Bottle Pours a cloudy pale dingy yellow/tan. Very slight white head that can only maintain spotty lacing. Aromas are some of the spicy fruity Belgian notes along with yeast and a little light citurs. Flavors are plenty of the above spiciness and yeast, somwehat bitter with quite lively carbonation. Feel is a bit thin and the aftertaste is quick and mildly woody. Thanks to MrFacto

It’s always a good day when there is a new Bell’s beer on the shelf. This brew is a mostly clear dark yellow color with a compact white head and very little lacing. The aroma is spicy, with wheat and citrus. Light and crisp body with a flavor that stings the tongue a bit. It is a zesty brew but not too flavorful unfortunately. Orange and other fruits, along with spice and a touch of malt on the back end. The finish is very dry and comes back to the citrus. All in all this is a decent Wit but not up to par with what I have come to expect from Bell’s.

Very dark brown coloured body, almost completely opaque with a medium-sized brown head with large bubbles. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, a light bit of chocolate and some fresh caramel. Medium-bodied; Nice full roasted malt flavour with a good coffee twang and some chocolate (a light touch of 50% cacao) in the taste. Aftertaste clean and very fresh-definately a good tasting & finishing porter! Overall, a damn good example of a porter (even over a year & a half old too) showing some dark roasty tastes, but finishing without bitterness or harsh flavours. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 16-October-2004 (but purchased over a year & a half earlier by my mom--THANKS MOM!) on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

This black bear has a very large tan head that stays until the end of the beer. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. Flavor is coffee and chocolate, and malt. A heavy palate. Like syrup with a palate similar to the expedition but with minimal complexity. I get the feeling this is rated as high as it is because it has the Bell’s name. As for the style, it seems to have the one dimensional qualities of a porter.

Bottled, thanks Dr.Bill! Dark brown. Restrained malty nose. Caramelly and very malty with soft, velvetty texture. Toffee and salty bitterness in the finish. Well balanced and flavourful.

Draft, at Bell’s Eccentric Café. So with all the amazing brews they make, there’s one they simply call "Beer." Nice golden pilsener color. Served perhaps a bit too cold in a plastic cup (my choice there, I only wanted a 16 oz. serving), so the head was light, and it may have been too cold to get the best experience. But there was an interesting bitter aftertaste that takes a minute to sink in. A nice hoppy smell, and a sharp hop character that mellows out toward the end.

Bottle Pours a opaque black with the darkest very think head I have ever seen. Aroma is not so smokey but more hopy and notes of grass or wood. Flavor is of bitter sweet choclate, charcoal and a little molassas. The comercial description of "5 times the hops" of the kalamazoo stout is no lie. In fact I would say that this is the only specific attribute that put me off from higher marks. The palate is unbeliveable though. The butteriest slickest feel I've had to date. Shared it with two beer buddies but non-RBers and we gasped and laughed as I poured our glasses. Viscosity is just crazy and it sloshed in the glass like 10W-30. This was my favorite part. Thanks a ton to MrFacto for sending this, the highest rated beer I've had.

Bottle Pours black with a small deep tan head that quickly disipates. Thin spotty lacing. Aroma is a nice nutty molassas and chocolate. Flavor is dark malt, wood or grass, some bitter sweet chocolate and a healthy hops kick. Feel was smooth and heavy, especially after it warmed up quite a bit. Trailer is a fairly bitter hops and grassy bite.

Bottle Pours a dark black with a large fluffy dark tan head that stays. Aroma is hazlenuts, carmel and dark malts. Feel is smooth "creamy" and slick. Flavors are very dark malt, molassas and charcoal. Very nice and easy going down. Thanks to MrFacto for the trade

Small sample Neutral grainy nose. Cloudy orange yellow, low creamy head. Grain and some fruit flavors. Lightish, thought it was kind of boring.
