Thin hazey head coats the nice dark amber pour. Aroma of cherries, barley, caramel. Taste is rich and deep, impossible to do justice with a lousy description... Awesome barley wine...

Bottled. Darkest billowy brown head I’ve seen in a while. Solid black body. Smell of deep roasted cocoa, chicory and carob. Taste is initially creamy, like toasted marchmallows. I also get impressions of polished walnut, sassafrass, loam with nightcrawlers (oh, that’s a good thing). Very warming alcohol leaves me a bit heady. Marred only by slightly burnt offerings further down.

Thanks to Indra for this! This pours with the expected frothy white head, hazy lemon-yellow body and aroma of citrusy lemon and orange. Well balanced with a good finish of tangy citrus and spice. Quite enjoyable.

A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of coffee and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol and coffee, but some sour carpet notes in the aftertaste.

Thanks to csbosox for sending this out! Huge head over a clear amber beer. Light malt aroma with a touch of cookie dough. Balanced flavor that is slightly sweet. Not bad.

An unclear brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet and quite hoppy. The flavor is sweet hoppy with notes of nuts and alcohol leading to a sweet soft end.

Opaque black brew with a tall mocha colored head. Chocolate, coffee, and loads of roast malt in the aroma. This starts out with a bitterness that lasts right through to the end. The Chocolate, coffee and a bit of sweetness make an appearance, but this one is dominated by the roast malt bitterness. I prefer a Porter over a Stout for the reason of a bit less roast malt bitterness, but for those who like a good Stout with those characteristics, this is a real winner.

I have never seen so much yeast and sediment in a beer; so much I think it is effecting the taste. It looks like a wit. Bitter hop aroma of a high quality pils. Flavor is one dimensional hops, again like a good pilsner. Very light citrus flavors; lemon sourness. Lots of hop bitterness.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Hazy orange-red body, thin off-white head. Toasty aroma with cinnamon and cherry skin. Sourish body (though tart notes quickly subsided) with sweet, musty cherries and a cherry skin finish and I’m pretty sure I also picked up some banana/clove yeast elements which I found peculiar. Alcohol not really detectable. This grew on me as I finished the glass, although it inevitably led to comparisons with the much superior New Glarus Belgian Red. Overall this was pretty good stuff, nonetheless.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Deep brown (pretty much opaque) body with a thin, dissipating off-white head. Orangey-red highlights at the edges. Toasty aroma with residual sugars and dark fruit, light because the beer was served too cold. Flavor was initially quite dry and toasty with plenty of chocolate, giving the beer an English Strong Ale feel, but as the beer warmed the vinous red grape finish opened up along with hints of cola, licorice, and bready yeast. Cherry flavors also developed at warmer temperatures. Alcohol was evident in the finish. Another excellent beer in the tap room.
