(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Citrusy hops in the nose - rather than hard roasted malts - which is a little surprising. Medium body with sweet roasted malts and a fairly malt bitter finish. Much more flavourful than what the body promises. 290608

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 (Yet another beer that I had on the Saturday morning when all was quite and after icing up , this was quite nice for breakfast at 07:30) Honey and hop dominate the nose of this almost straw coloured very light beer with a white foamy head sat atop. In a blind tasting I think that I would fail miserably at guessing the strength of this beer as it drank like a session ale. A nice floralness about this along with diluted honey and a delicate bitterness., its not a world beater and not even close to the best that Oakham can do but that aside its actually pretty good..

Bottled@RBESG 2008 Grand Tasting
Dark hazy brown color, small tan head. Sweet, hoppy aroma with hints of licorice. Hoppy, licoricey flavor. Nice grassy-hoppy aftertaste.

Cask I picked up from Vale Brewery (Beer swap) for a private party in Charlton-on-Otmoor, Oxon 12-07-08 Poured golden with tiny film of white dancing bubbles on the top.Stunning aroma of grapefruit mostly pithiness but just a lovely aroma. The aroma transferred over to the taste and whilst it was simply a lovely grapefruit pithy flavoured beer with not much else it was wonderfully refreshing.

RBESG08 grand tasting. Very dark brown/black. There wasn’t as much of this as I would have liked as a bottle smashed in the hold luggage on the plane. Frankly it’s awesome. The hops, the thick porter style, bit of soy sauce. Almost the best Oakham’s beer. That’s stunning.

Bottle, RBESG08 grand tasting Extremely dark, murky brown. Small tan head. Nice pungent hops (Goldings?) in the nose. Malty taste, roasty, with some hopiness again. Likable.

RBESG2008: 50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a creamy tan head. Citrusy fruity aroma with a mild roasted note beneath - promising aroma. Hoppy fruity initially and solid roasted malt following. Ends fresh hoppy and roasted malt. Nice one and a lovely "clean" mix.
