Cask at Oakham Brewery Tap, Peterborough. Does not taste as strong as it is. I had it with a Thai meal and did not realise its strength until I was trying to diffuse the hot chilli sauce, by swigging this like JHB. Found out half way through the meal that I was a bit wobbly. Got the usual Oakham citric hop flavours but a bit more metallic

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. ABV was listed as 4.9%. The brewery website does not mention the ABV, it might vary. This is another lovely citrussy golden ale from Oakham, a style which seems to be their specialty. Golden colour, low head. Plenty of citrus, tropical fruits and honey in the aroma. Flavour has some citrus, but also some of the dusty hoppiness you’ll find in many Southern English ales.

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Pale golden colour. Lovely citrussy sweet aroma, hints of honey. Some natural carbonation, zesty. Some wheat character. A nice hoppy bitterness throughout. Another great session beer from Oakham.

Cask at Oakham Brewery Tap, Peterborough. Straight from the holding tanks in a 4 pint pitcher, this was the best tasting JHB I have ever had (and I’ve had a fair bit). Light gold in colour with a really good tangerine/grapefruit nose with a flowery hoppiness too. And because it is a session beer you can just keep drinking it. Finish is citric and hoppy and slightly acidic but extremely well made and very well balanced

Cask conditioned at NERAX 4/27/2005 and again on 4/29/2005.
Light yellow, some light gold tints, no head. Aroma of light herbs and citrus, a touch of hay and fruit. Flavor is full of lemons, soft and lightly tingly, little to no carbonation. Dries out somewhat with notes of light woodiness and dry nectarines on the finish. Medium body, tons of flavor. Really enjoyed this one.
Cask at NERAX on 5/4/07
Always the perennial powerhouse, this stuff seems immune from flaws/poor conditioning. Fruity, light, drinkable and very flavorful, it’s got such a lovely malt character and vintage yeast character (hard to define, but I mean it has a noticeable character that is not a flaw, yet not just your average ester. Musty isnt the right word, nor is doughy/bready/dusty). Great, great stuff.

Lightly amber tinged, blonde and gold beer, small white head. Hint of vanilla and light herbs hides behind the citrus and other fruits. Very impressive body on this showcases malt, citrusy hops, and some strawberries and mangoes. Very low carbonation, not watery. A bit of papery dryness on the end, however.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] A hazy yellow beer with a fine white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and grassy. The flavor is sweet and very nicely hoppy and fresh, but the body is thin.

Hazy nut brown, good creamy brown head. Honey hoppy nose, trefoil aroma. Well-hopped, medium-bodied. Burned molasses in the finish. Very good balanced real ale with depth in the palate.
