Pours a clear amber with a frothy but thin white head. Earthy malt and rye bread aroma some fruit also present. Taste is sweet, grainy bread combined with some fruit flavours and light hop bitter finish.

Cask at EBF 24, 04/08/16. Pitch black with a well appointed tan head. Nose is roast malt, light charr, trace of burnt toffee, caramel, Werthers original, light chocolate spread, aniseed. Taste comprises mellow fruit rinds, liquorice stick, sweet licks, rich malt base, light chocolate. Medium + body, soft carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Another solid cask impy stout from Ascot. The butterscotch is pretty subtle .... maybe a good thing!

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A slightly hazy amber pour with a ring of white head; grassy aroma with some apricot; dry with a fruity apricot taste; and then a rather thin finish, dry with a lingering barley sugar taste.

Cask at CBC Islington, 07/07/16. Clear golden copper with a well appointed off white head. Nose is biscuit malt, caramel, straw, light hop notes. Taste comprises bready notes, biscuit, straw, faint citric rinds, toasted grain. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Cask at the craft beer co. Aroma is is a grassy, slightly nutty malts. A clear ambrer Orange coloured pour with a facing loose white head. Flavour is composef of brown sugars, toffee, grassy hop, earthy. Grainy straw. Palate is grainy and dey, decent cask condition. OK.

Cask at the Swan, Farnborough. 01/07/16. Light and sweet hay aroma. Looks like a lager - light gold and a small white head. Medium bitter with a sweet edge. Very smooth. Pretty watery. Goes down well.

Cask at EBF 23, 24/03/16. Black topped with a solid tan head. Nose is rich malt, spice, almond notes, chocolate, toffee fudge. Taste comprises roast malt, black pepper, molasses, cocoa powder, Toblerone. Full bodied, soft carbonation, light booze tickle in the close. Solid cask impy.

Cask (gravity) @ 31th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2014, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England [ As Ascot Penguin Smoked Porter ].Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, sweet malt, wood, smoked. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, roasted, chocolate, smoked. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141202]

Cask at the Fox & Hounds, Caversham. Amber with a tight cream head; sweet herbal aroma with a hint of tobacco; soft, dry and fruity in the mouth, with a rye grain type body; then a dry, almost chalky finish with some lingering citrus. An interesting beer.
