(Cask at Gallows Bird Magna Carta Real Ale Festival 2015) The beer poured deep golden and almost clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, molasses and earth. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, toffee, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A good clean bitter.

Cask (handpump) @ EBF18 2014, 18th Egham Beer Festival, Egham United Services Club (EUSC), 111 Spring Rise, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 9PE. [ As Ascot The Last Of The Blue Devils Imperial Stout #19 (Fig) ].Clear dark black color with a average, open and frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing to lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, prune, figs, soy sauce. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, figs, roasted, coffee, sweet malt, prunes, chocolate - cacao. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20140807]

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 08/05/15. Copper golden topped with a decent light beige cap. Nose is caramel, bitter orange, light earthy hop presence, candy bar. Taste comprises toffee apple, biscuit, bitter orange, pinch of spice, light vanilla essence. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Ok ESB, holds together well, light earthy hop bitterness.

Cask at Reading BF. Black with a loose off-white head. Roasted malts up front followed by plain chocolate with dark roast coffee. Good balance of sweet and dry and rather drinkable and more-ish. A decent stout this.

Cask at Craft 100, CBC Clapham, 02/04/15. Light black topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is a touch raw, dark berry fruits, light spice, Neopolitan ice cream, chocolate. Taste comprises earthy roast, jammy berry fruit, chocolate, light wood. Medium + body, fine carbonation, warming booze in the close. A touch harsh and unrefined.

Draft at Craft 100 April 2015 - London. Pours clear reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Bready malts in the nose, some ripe fruits. Medium sweet flavor with hints of smoke, burnt earth, toffee, grains. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with notes of tobacco, ash, cocoa, grains and earth. Bitter aftertaste. So so.

Cask at EBF XX, EUSC, 02/04/15. Pitch black with a well appointed dirty tan covering. Nose is rich malt, tangy orange, chocolate, light booze, spice, candied orange peel. Taste comprises sweet licks, blood orange, dark fruit rinds, Terry’s chocolate orange, light spice, faint liqourice. Medium + body, soft to lightly oily carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok stuff but not the best in this series for me, a touch too sweet at times.
