Description
We are a small and independent brewery which has been making great beer for over fifteen years, winning both SIBA and CAMRA awards for our beers.

We brew in small batches by hand with the utmost regard not only for flavour but also for quality and consistency, using the finest British barley and a mix of both Kentish and World hops.

A bit of history: Established in 1995 as The Swale Brewery Co in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne, moved to Grafty Green, Maidstone in 2001. Sold to the ancient Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company in 2003.

Note - Beers brewed by Swale prior to the 2003 purchase are listed separately under The Swale Brewery Co.

Cask at The Hotel Continental, Whitstable. A golden pour with a decent white head on top. Nice hoppy aroma. Nice amount of hoppiness, fruity, floral, honey, refreshing. This is a seriously decent IPA. Drinking it fresh in Whitstable with the fishermans boats bobbing about in the harbour and the sun setting on the horizon. Nice experience.

Cask@The Whearsheaf. Clear amber color, small steady white head. Fresh hayish hoppy aroma, and I am not sure - maybe a glimpse of diacetyl. Hayish, dry, slightly sour flavor (cask is in condition but has just a bit sour feeling). Watery finish.

330ml bottle from Utobeer Market Stall, shared with friends at a hotel room in Earls Court. Gushy stuff, not easy to stop, but we managed at last to get a good taste of the remaining content. Huge, but quickly vanishing, white foam. Hazy, straw coloured with a greenish tint. Malt-fruity aroma. Bready malts and subdued citrus in flavour. Dry in the mouth. Medium bodied. Alright, but far from memorable (London, 02.08.2009).

Cask@GBBF 2009. Opaque black color, small beige head. Strong licorice aroma, some coffee. Flavor is lighter than aroma. It has dark coffee, some milk chocolate and other toasted flavors. Very good flavor but overall too light. Maybe ok with oysters.

Deep pitch black coloured body with a muddy brown head and a nice lacing that leaves the side of the glass beautiful. Aroma of mild roasted malt, raisins, toffee, oak and a bit of vanilla. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with some light sweetness and a decent amount of bitterness soon behind. Aftertaste shows very subtle flavours mainly consisting of roasted malt, tobacco and some molasses. Overall, a nice and very subtle beer - perfect for a warmer day! I sampled this 330 mL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough (London), England on 13-December-2008, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia (the other side of the pond) on 02-May-2009.
