Bottle at Birrivico, Como, L15076, bb 10/2016
Amber color, dull, hazy, with small head. The aroma has some orange hops and a touch of skunk. Strong body, but the chewy caramel and moderate sweetness identify this as old style IIPA; orangey hops on the final, a bit resiny.
Not a bad beer, but it’s rather sticky, and cloying, so the larger bottle format (500ml) seems so wrong.

500 ml bottle from Il Pretesto Beershop, Bologna, shared at RB Tasting Linz.
Dark amber, hazy body, with a medium, slightly bege head.
Aroma of sweet fruits, sweet bread, caramel, some roast.
Taste follows this, with some more chocolate and even slight coffee.
Light mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes sweet, roasty, with chocolate, coffee, some bread.
Very nice. Somewhere inbetween a pale and a dark bock, maybe a bit more on the dark side, with nice chocolate notes. Nothing outstanding, but pleasant and quaffable.

50cl bottle from Il Pretesto in Bologna. Sat in the fridge for a few days but still gave a good gush once it was popped. Bummer. Pours a murky orange with some sudsy, thick white head. Nose is pretty mild, no sign of infection, but not much to speak of anyway; some very faint tropical fruit, some honey, light muddle citrus, some dried herbs. Flavor has straw and light mango, hints of infection here with some dusty couch, orange, tangerine, cracker. All fairly mild. Finishes lightly sweet and without much bitterness. Beyond any possible infection, this was a bit of a bummer.

50cl bottle I picked up at Il Pretesto. Pours a murky amber with some creamy, white head. Nose has sturdy malt, orange/grapefruit/lemon, candy, yeast, dried pine needle. Flavor is huge with pine, soap, citrus, brown malts, honey. Full bodied, sticky finish. Old school American DIPA.

500ml bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, many thanks. BB 02/2016. amber hazy color, small off-white head. nice smell of pines, some sweetness, mango, grapefruit, oranges, grass, light glueish. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of pines, herbs, lightly fruity, citric, oranges, grapefruit, some grass, light spices, some sweetness. finishes with a nice herbal and citric bitterness. feels a bit heavy but nice balance with the sweetness being very unobtrusive. the malt backbone is obvious but works great with the bitterness. love it, finishes just a tad too zesty for me.

500 ml bottle from il Pretesto Beershop, Bologna.
Dark amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma of grapefruit, grass, pineapple, passion fruit, candy, some herbs.
Tastes of grapefruit, pineapple, peach, some berries, biscuit, honey.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter, quite dry, zesty, a bit piney, fruity, a bit malty.
Very nice. The nose is a bit too grassy for me, but the taste is very good, fruity-hoppy and with a smooth, sweet malt backbone. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall a quite filling, but tasty DIPA.

500 ml bottle from il Pretesto Beershop, Bologna.
Deep amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, yellowish head.
Aroma of grains, citrus, lime, some grass, sweet malts.
Taste with about the same aromas, but with less grain, more citrus notes and some pine.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes moderate bitter, citric, piney, a bit grassy, slightly grainy.
Nice one. Fresh, fruity and easy to drink. The nose is a bit boring, while the taste has very nice citrus notes. Good example of this style.
