Bottle (courtesy of jetzler). Sweet orange/pineapple hops and strong malt aroma. Cloudy orange yellow color with small head. Fairly bland flavor - watery malt and light hops. Aroma showed some promise but taste kind of let me down.

Bottle. Brown color, tan head on the pour. Aroma is mostly hop, with some of the spice you would expect from a holiday ale. Taste is malt and hop, and pretty full bodied. What surprised me is how brief the finish was on this beer. Pretty big taste, right until the end where the finish was thin and brief.

++++RE-RATE 8/30/08++++
16 oz. draft. Here we go with another re-rate on this beer, and again, I am liking it more and more each time. The interplay between spice, citrus and yeast is really delicate and balanced. On top of that, super refreshing. My beef with the palate is toned a bit too, this seemed fuller this time around. 7,4,7,3,15 (3.6)

++++RE-RATE 9/1/07++++
12 oz. bottle. I picked up on a lot more spice complexity this time around. Also, a very nice wheat palate throughout. Still a bit watery, but enjoyed much more this time around. 7,4,6,3,10 (3.0)

++++ORIGINAL RATING 10/26/06++++
Bottle. Pour is hazy white gold. Nice full head. Taste is tangerine, lemon and lime. OK spiciness at the end. Overall, a slightly below average Belgian White. 6,4,5,3,10 (2.8)

Decent US microbrew interpretation of an German lager. Color is deep golden, flavor is smooth. Very drinkable beer. Always nice to look forward to this one in the Autumn.

++++ Re Rate 26 August 2015 ++++
Rating for the Local Hop Pale Ale released summer 2015.
~12 oz draft at the Boulevard Tasting Room in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a hazed golden orange with a one inch egg white head. The aroma is fresh cereal grain malt along with bright floral hop. The taste is the sweet cereal grain malt paired nicely with floral hop and a bit of lemon citrus. The palate is medium bodied with soft active carbonation and a mineral floral grain dry finish. Solid, fun and different versus the regular Boulevard Pale Ale. (7,4,7,4,14 - 3.6)

++++ Re Rate 16 January 2010 ++++
12 oz bottle purchased at Royal in Kansas City, Missouri. BEST BY 06/25/10 printed on the neck of the bottle. Served in my Free State Willebecher. Pour is a slightly hazed orange golden with a firm two inch off white head. Head is quite lasting, eventually falls with sticky lacing. Aroma is floral citrus hops, along with toasty malt and a mineral earthiness. Fresh and clean. Taste mirrors the nose nicely, starting with the floral and orange fruit citrus sweetness, closely followed and joined by the toasty, slightly resinous malt. The mineral earthiness is in the finish, and helps to dry the beer out nicely. All flavors integrate nicely. Palate is medium to thin bodied, slightly below average carbonation and the dry mineral flinty finish previously mentioned. This is a go to beer for me, and really is quite nice in its simplicity.(7,4,8,4,15 - 3.8)

++++ Original Rating 6 October 2006 ++++
Great layering on the pour. Nice touch of hops at beginning, slight bitter, brief finish. Nice Pale Ale if you do not like to be overpowered by hops. (7,4,7,4,14 - 3.6)

Bottle from santa - smokey, roasty aroma, with background chocolate malt - fairly dry, with a hard water and mineral quality that makes it seem pretty authentic - bitter espresso and a hint of creamy sweetness beneath the otherwise overall dry character - pretty decent.

Thanks to my secret santa - fizzy body, with a hazy straw color - very full aroma for the style, with abundant coriander, lemon rind, orange marmalade, floral/herbal notes, some earthiness - almost smokey up front, followed by some very floral, farmhouse ale-like qualities - then it starts to taste like a wit, with those citrus flavors really coming in full force, followed by a mild, peppery spice and bready malt - wonderfully balanced and delicious, not to mention original - ranks up there with Allagash White in my book.
