Nice very very dark brown color. Good head and all around good taste and aroma. Sweetness in the taste and good belgian body. I would never turn this beer down.

Slim white head. Pale hazy orange. Alcoholic nose, but at the same time fruity - estery. Some very pale coloured malts. Surprising, but the nose is quite delicate. Flavour of orange zeste. Alcohol, but more like cheap hard liquor. Cookies, pie crust, sweet, aroma of unripe peach. Soupy, oily mouthfeel. Alcohol obviously diminishes the mouthfeel, but I get an impression of quite high attenuation too. Alcholburn, warming. Aftertaste as if apricots on (rather cheap) brandy. To me, a mixture of very good craftmanship and commercialism - just as the ridiculous name & label. Gimmick on a well-crafted, but not really exciting ale.

Surprising to be the first. This is actually the bread-and-butter pilsener of Huyghe. The name refers to a 'very special' kind of barley, priced by lagerbrewers. (draught) Pale gold. Slim but good lacey white head. Very little nose - cold doesn't help. Very grainy taste, definitely lot of restsweetness. Very little bitterness. This is a very grainy/malty pilsener. Light mouthfeel. Even no bitterness in the aftertaste. Oh well. Swill.

Dark ruby in colour with a generous light tan head. No visible bubbles rising from the bottom at all! Aroma of pit fruit, raisins, malt and a very subtle sweet spiceyness. Light to Medium-Bodied; Strong sourness to start the beer, much like a flemish sour, but finishes more rounded with a stronger malt character. The aftertaste is sweet, sour and a bit bittered from the malt. A good beer, complexity-wise, but the strength of the flavours are lacking quite a bit. Not a bad beer in any respect, but not my favourite in the style. Try finding this if you love belgie dubbels as this is pretty different than the ordinary! I bought this 75 cL from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia and sampled it on 30-August-2003.

4.2% ABV. Brown colour, somewhat hazy. Medium head.Aroma of chocolate and oranges. The flavour is a sweet-ish mess of chocolate, raisins and rum. I actually thought that the first sip tasted quite OK but by the third sip I changed my mind.......

Hazy golden color, creamy head. Very nice aroma, deep, in the first notes reminding me a light version of Eku 28, than it changes: malty, fuity (banana…). Very good taste, even if the mouthfeel is just thinner than I expected, but with a good malty sensation for a Triple; it just lacks some maturation. Probably the best beer by Huyghe!

Very light cloudy yellow color, short lasting head. Typical Wallonian white. More yeasty and spicy coriander, less citrussy. I prefer flemish belgian whites or german wheat, but not something in between actually.

Bottled. Pale yellow with creamy head. Bubblegummy apple aroma. Very sweet, but less cloying than many other Huyghe products. Apple pie with custard - probably a real nice beer (if you don't like beer).

Bottled, named St. Idesbald Dubbel.
Served in ceramic soup cup at Turisthotellet, Ljungskile, Sweden, which is, or at least has been one of the best beer drinking spots in Scandinavia, as they've boosted a selection of 400+ Belgian beers and a wonderful location overviewing the fjord. Sadly the place is now up for sale, and the beer selection is being cut back a lot. This beer is nut brown and seet with toffee and syrup. The mouthfeel is clean, hard and sharp and the finish short and roasty. Sub-par, like most Huyghe's beers.

Bottled. Dark ruby with rich creamy head. Sweet and clean with some plum and licorice. Empty for such a big beer with a salty metallic finish.
