12 oz bottle-pours a creamy tan/light brown head. Hazy deep orange/amber color. Aroma-puts off a lot of aroma. Sweet, sharp___(fruity syrup smell) possibly from plums or apricots, malty. Taste follows the aroma with the malt becoming a nutty malt. Seems like oak barreled. OK carbonation. Occasional, not to my taste but, nicely done. Date stamp on bottle was partially legible, approx 10/04. Other 6 packs in this store went back to ’03.

Bottled. Reddish amber, near no head. Lycheelike hop aroma. Roasty and dry with firm, clean, rounded mouthfeel that turns somewhat soapy in the end. Really hoppy, yet fairly balanced. Lingering bitter finish. A solid beer that scores high for being tasty and drinkable, but does not score the extra points for originality.

Very Belgian like; I would guess from the yeast. Powerful, sweet fruit flavors; a rather sweet beer. Some alcohol in the aroma. Very good.

Really nice hops and lemon aroma, good looks (very red), great frothy head. Flavor is a bit too dependent on hops, though, and doesn’t finish quite as nicely as I would have expected from this one.

Sampled this one on draft at the State College beer festival. It poured a very cloudy medium golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was sweet banana and cloves. The flavor is strong banana, moderate cloves and a hint of citrus. The banana and clove elements linger on the palate. 1/2006 - tried the bottle version. Very boring, scores: 3/2/3/2/8.

2005 bottle at Mondial, 6/4/05. Small amber-copper colored head recedes to ring. The body is a lovely deep, burnished copper, rather bubbly. Smells of cascades; orangey/citrusy. Yeastiness as well, with a bit of munich malt. Begins with dry cascades, bitter and floral, with some lightly toasted grains through the middle, mostly dry. A rather easygoing amber ale, has a hard mouthfeel, filtered and force-carbonated-like. As it warms and breathes, I get notes of caramel, cherries, dates and a toffee finish. Medium-body, a bit overcarbonated. Yeasty fruits throughout, lots of candied oranges and caramel. Pretty simple, but quite drinkable and refreshing. Reminds me a bit of Avery Redpoint.

A 12 oz bottle of Troegs Amber Ale-While pouring a pint glass, shows lots of carbonation. Clear amber color with a full head. Smell the hops. A good, crisp ale! Would be nice if the dating was easier to find and then read. Of the 6 bottles, only 1 was legible enough to determine it was bottled Oct ’04.

Bright copper-amber colour. Cherryish, alcoholic aroma. Light "Belgian" yeast accents highlight this strong ale, complementing the husky malt character, hint of spices. The cherry seems more in the aroma than the palate, which is good because the taste is a little oversweet.

Acquired via trade. This brew is a nearly opaque brown/black with a thin light tan head. Thin, sticky lacing. The aroma packs a bit of a punch, with roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate. Medium-bodied and smooth with a nice bittersweet chocolate and coffee flavor. Some malt and hops too. The finish is lightly hoppy with a small bitter coffee aftertaste. This is one of the more flavorful Oatmeal Stouts I have had. Well done!
