Description
Regional brewery that is very known for both it's own brands, as well as their contract brews.
In the period after 1850, the De Meester-Boelens brewery was founded at the current address in the Kerkstraat. in 1897 the name changed to Boelens-De Meester. Brewing stopped during World WarI, after the war the family continued the business as a bottling and beer enterprise. In 1978 Kris Boelens took over the beer business from his father. He reintroduced beer brewing in Belsele in 1993. In 2016 his son Yannick Boelens joined the brewery.

8/XII/12 - 33cl bottle @ Culinair Bierfestival (Waasmunster) - BB: n/a (2012-1338) Thanks to Kris for sharing today's beers!
Clear light orange beer, white irregular head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, exotic fruits, passion fruit, sweet mango, syrup, citrus, fruity yeast esters. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus fruits, ripe fruits, little sweet, very spicy (coriander), dry, some orange peel, sweet touch, honey. Aftertaste: bitter, coriander overload, bit fruity, soapy. Way too much coriander, alas.

Medium, light-cream coloured head, fast receding over fully hazy red-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Attractive mix of liqueurish notes with lactic/oud bruin sourish aromas. Hints of green leaves as holly and chocolate. As such, ideal for the holidays, I’d say. Bitter-roasted, with only a hint at lactic acid backthroat. Some yeasty features, as if not fully fermented out - which sits strange on the lactic notion. Again bitter chocolate. Not very well-bodied, spritzy MF. Long-lasting roasted features in the aftertaste. Certainly not Boelens’ worst try! It’s not obvious in which way they wanted to go, but the result is worth trying.

Very hazy amber - brown beer. Decent off white head. Light palate, crispy. A little malt and minerals and then some interesting fruits - cherry, orange, traces of raspberry, melon and pineapple. Finishes soft with a mild carbonated nip. Great fruit salad of a beer!

Hazy gold beer. Tidy white head. Sweet malty nose. Light palate, soft, mild carbonation. Creamy malt. That typical tripel ephemeral sweetness. Tangy orange with a little peach, turns minerally and bitter. Not bad!

33cl bottle, BB 01/11/2014.
