Bottle, 8.5%. Hazy deep golden with big off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, yeast and orange peel. Flavour is malt, yeast, hops, orange peel, little sweet, spices and a little bitter.

Courtesy of bierkoning. Dark brown color, steady beige head. Starts slightly sour, later not so much, caramelly, spicey aroma with light coffee. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, toffeish, raisins, malty and some alcohol. Nice strong dessert beer, quite Belgian.

750 ml bottle into tulip, no bottle dating(but must be quite aged, I got it on clearance). Pours very cloudy orange amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of honey, apple, pear, apricot, earth, herbal, floral, bread, light pepper, and light yeast spices. Pretty nice and interesting aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of caramel, apple, pear, honey, bread, earth, herbal, pepper, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of caramel, honey, apple, pear, bread, herbal, pepper, floral, earth, and light yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Very nice malt sweetness to peppery flavor balance; with nice complexity and no cloying sweetness at all. A bit of an earthy tang on the finish as well, but not bad. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian strong pale ale. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; very pleasant and smooth to sip on. Despite the questionable age, this was still quite enjoyable; and certainly worth the 5 dollars I paid for the bottle.

Bottle @ De Heeren provided gratis as a nightcap for staying the night at their establishment. Dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Toasty caramel/chocolate (turtle), toasty grainy nose. Tangy, blackberry, dark fruity, plum, spicy yeasty, caramel, chocolate, fairly fruity flavor. Not bad.

Small transparant head over hazy ochre-amber beer. Toasted nose, with other grains, wholemeal bread and typical Boelens yeast. Oppressive, agressive fiery grains’ flavour. Rather neutral main flavour, not going Bi/Sw, let alone sour - maybe a tad mineral. Attenuation is correct for a tripel, without thinning the MF, but the palate impression remains too agressive. Kris returning to some of his former hauntings, which I thought to be history...

33cl from Dranken Geers. BB 01/2014. Dorée, col blanc. Arôme de levure, grains aspect légumes et fruité. En bouche, léger houblon, bien pétillante, épicée rappelant ce profile épeautre, le tout est sec et une levure donnant une légère note aigre allant vers abricot voire un léger houblon tropical / agrumes en fin de bouche. Le tout reste sec et poussiéreux.

Bottle. Clear dark amber/brown with medium off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, yeast and caramel. Flavour is malt, yeast, hops, little caramel, hops, medium bitter, little dried fruit and notes of alcohol.

Huge, fine & dense white head as whipped eggwhite; very well-carbonated hazed orange beer. Initially dusty nose, bit grassy, then going over into fresh green leaves, floral. In the end and aroma that might well be honey. Interesting, if a bit conflicting flavours: grain, straw, bitterish hops, herbs, and again something dusty-sweetish. Faintly toasted. Obviously veyr carbonated, and it seems very well fermented out, seen the near absence of sweetness. Tad fiery, medium bodied. Aftertaste carries again this flavour as main feature; mannah-like. Intertesting, and certainly with a lot of merit. But do we thrust honey from the big smoke? Many thanks to Stef!
