Regional brewery that is very known for both it's own brands, as well as their contract brews.
In the period after 1850, the De Meester-Boelens brewery was founded at the current address in the Kerkstraat. in 1897 the name changed to Boelens-De Meester. Brewing stopped during World WarI, after the war the family continued the business as a bottling and beer enterprise. In 1978 Kris Boelens took over the beer business from his father. He reintroduced beer brewing in Belsele in 1993. In 2016 his son Yannick Boelens joined the brewery.

Hazy gold - amber beer. Tidy white head. Light dry palate with a soft edge. A little tripel like sweet fruity malt. Trace of citrus. Odd whisper of cucumber. Semi dry finish. A bit clunky!

Little cloudy red amber beer, nice creamy smooth off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit sourish, rotten fruits, earthy, pretty off, lemony, infected? MF: lots of carbon, light to medium body. Taste: lemony, sour, grapefruit, bitter touch, some caramel, grains. Aftertaste: lemony, sour, earthy, bit spicy, green apple skin, dirty flavours. Infected? Probably.

Got a 75 cl. bottle for free from DHL as a goodbye gift. THX! Cool Service. Brownish, hazy with an off-white head. Ripe and overripe darkfruit in the nose, caramel, sweet with some booze comming through, sweet leaves, brown sugar in the nose. Bitter herbal in the taste, presumably the hops, leaves, burned sugar, caramel, lots of bitter leaves, lots of bitterness and some booze, very bitter leaves & herbs in the back. Medium, light oily body. Interesting & very bitter for a Belgian beer, enjoyed their blond housebeer more.
