Luppolo (pronounced loop-o-lo) means hops in Italian. We chose an Italian name due to the Italian heritage of two of our owners and because the values associated with Italian culture–quality, craftsmanship, community and family–are central to our vision.

473ml can. Pours a clear yellow gold with a medium, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves thick, soapy curtains of lace. Aroma of toasted bready pale malt, grapefruit and herbal hops. Sweet fruity flavour of toasted grainy pale malt, grapefruit, lime, passionfruit and grassy hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing and easy to put back.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma bursts with wonderful NZ hop: lots of gooseberry, some tropical notes, pine, and white grape. Flavour is full of tropical fruits (lots of melon, nectarine, etc.), gooseberry, some piney hops, citrus, finishing fruity and lightly bitter. Great hop expression and well-structured overall. Very good.

Poured from the tap @ Luppolo. Hazy blonde with small white head. Tart wild yeasts with feint apricot. Decent.

Soft and fruity. Great brett character. Nice soft fruit, good complexity. I like it.

Opaque, dullish pale, thin head. Sweet vermouth, the base seems light, buried by the almost floral vermouth aspect.

Bottle pour at Farmhouse Fest 2025, pours a clear copper orange with a small white head. Aroma has some acidic grape skins, farmhouse notes, and moderate acidity. Flavour is acidic, with gentle grape skins, ligit barnyard notes, and mustiness. Old and tired but has some nice grape skins, but the acidity is a bit too high. Decent for a 6-year-old wild ale.

473 ml can. Pours a dull mahogany color with moderate head. Aromas of trail mix fruit, biscuity malts and some earthy esters. Flavors follow same with additional bitter and metallic hops. OK for a Common I guess…

On tap at Luppolo. Pours murky blonde with a white head. Tangy NZ hops and a but metallic on the nose. Flavour has doughy malts, lots of NZ tang, mineralic, dry grass. Interesting take on a kölsch, very nice.

Pale amber, slight haze. Medium head. The aroma is toasty, lightly fruity, a bit of mushroom in there. Fairly clean, which places all the emphasis on the malt…it’s complex enough with biscuity notes and a hint of toastiness to hold up to the challenge. Light orangey note. Okay the only thing for me is EKG…a great hop but not over here; we get the shittiest 10% of them. This beer needed some northdown, bramling or challenger, or fuck it one of the new ones even I don’t know shit all about. They started to make something unique then left a real opportunity on the table.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazy bright golden with a medium white head. Aroma has a soft floral hop character, light hop tang, straw, and pillowy, doughy malt. Flavour is vibrant, with a wonderful NZ hop tang upfront, straw, pillowy doughy malt, and a light fruity finish. Way more interesting than your average kolsch, with a great hop character. You’d never get anything like this in Cologne, but I’m not upset about that.
