Bradford CAMRA Beer Festival 2026, Beer#17. Clear slightly lighter golden coloured brew. Hoppy pale with a good body verging on session stuff.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours “bitter brown” with a small foamy off-white head and some lacing. The aroma has hops, caramel and a hint of cocoa. In the mouth there is a layer of sweetness on top, but the underlying bitterness is stronger and eventually wins out. Flavour is mainly floral hops, plus citrus and lemon with a little herbs and spicy hints later on. Finish is slightly spicy as well. This is reasonable.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours almost black with a small foamy tan head and some lacing. The aroma is powerfully chocolate, but with hints of ginger and malts as well. In the mouth it is smooth, sweet and creamy. Dark chocolate is easily the main flavour but ith traces too of malts, honeycomb and spice. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is nice but the excess of chocolate cancels out any real beery characteristics.

Cask at Campion Social Club, Bradford - clear gold body, lasting white head. Spicy citrus tang, good wintery feel to this, despite being so pale. Gentle caramel sweetness, nice all rounder.

Hand pulled half pint at the Station Hotel on 2nd December 2025. Black bodied with a beige crust, looked good. Chocolate being the main player flavour wise, fairly sweet as well. Decent!

Hand pulled half pint in the Station Hotel on 29th October 2025 (now only 3.4% ABV). Clean and clear light golden body, snow white head. All a bit subtle/bland for me, should have had it earlier in the session but didn't notice the ABV until I ordered it. Overpowered by the beers before it.

'Montezuma's Revenge' was an addictive C64 game which I did complete. I struggled to complete this one, firstly as I'd had many beers previously, but mainly because of its unappealing floral taste. There's hints of chocolate here, and in aroma, but not enough.
