Can 35 c. Courtesy of Theis. Pours a clear deep golden with a dense and frothy off-white head leaving some lacework. The nose is sweet and malty with a little perfumy hops. Medium body, fairly decent maltiness with a surprisingly hoppy finish. Not too bad actually. 200111

Sampled at Sapporo harvest festival 2009. Roast aroma notes. Black light cream. Good balance, a bit roast, otherwise bland.

Sampled at Sapporo harves festival 2009. Light berry roast aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Light roast coffee, a hint sourmash. Easy drinkable, not super exiting but nice enough.

From a 355ml bottle on 30/12/2010. Note that, despite being marketed as ’Japan’s Oldest Brand’, my bottle was brewed in Ontario, Canada (!) and was 5.0%, rather than 4.7%. Has a barely noticeable floral aroma and not much else. Taste wise, it’s not offensive but dull as dishwater. Poor.

fairly aggressive hops, grassy, very much like Edel Pils. The hops just sit there and linger in the mouth . By far the most bitter beer from a Japanese major.

milk chocolate, some cloves, fairly mainstream accented, but not bad stuff.

Bottle at my company holiday party which wasn’t at Japanese restaurant oddly enough. Typical yellow lager. its crisp and clean and dry, tastes of corn, straw, and a touch of hops.

Nice light amber color, tall head. Malt centered aroma, slightly dark and chocolatey but just slightly. Malty flavor, somewhat sweet, with chocolate and caramel. Rich, a bit earthy, plus a little bit of wood, maybe the charcoal? Ok, but still not very interesting. Still a bit cheap, somehow.
