December 1st is when I seriously look at starting to drink my Christmas/Winter beers in Japan. Le Bockale A 20 5% Brown pine beer A lovely reddish brown with a foamy beige head and a caramel big fresh piney aroma. I think this was made by pine sap. Quite full bodied with a semi-slick mouthfeel. The taste is hugely ascerbic pine, a touch of smoke and citrus. Very woodsy, apparently this is made with 100% Quebec ingredients. A hazed pale blonde Gose with a thin white head. In aroma, light lemon pulp, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity lemon juice with light chalky character, pleasant. Not bad for a alcohol free beer. On tap at L'autre oeil.
