Description
Gigantic Brewing Company is an independent, crafty brewery located in the Southeast quadrant of the Peoples Republic of Portland. Brewer/Owners Ben Love and Van Havig are veterans of the Oregon brewing community.

At Gigantic we only do two things: make the best damn IPA in Portland, Oregon and produce seasonal, exciting, flavorful beers, most of which will be brewed only once. Our goal is simultaneously to create new interpretations of classic styles and to ignore those same style guidelines completely and brew whatever our creative natures produce.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours translucent copper with a slight white head. Aroma of citrus with some pretty brown sugary malt. Med body. Flavor is lots of citric hop with some pretty sweet caramel. A hop burn builds. This is not a NW harsh hop thing. It’s a very hoppy, smooth, lightly burning hop thing. Lots of redundancy there, but it’s appropriate. The burn continues to build, and the malt slowly sinks towards the sunset. Finishes pretty balanced surprisingly.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours hazy amber with a slight head. Light sweet malt aroma. Med body. Flavor is malty, but there seems to be a lot of something, hopefully hop, that is keeping it fairly dry. Not very bitter, just that there’s a large lump of flavor that’s not malt. Tho in the finish I’d have to say it’s a tie on dry.

Bottle. Clear amber body. Fizzy, off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, resin, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Clean and strange.

Super hazy light copper coloured body with a muddy orange and bronze glow and a nice, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of earthy english hops, nuts, caramel, raisins, herbal and grassy hops and a hint of light fruits - very nice and strong and plenty of hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong malt notes up front with a toasty finish, some apple and pear flavours along with a good light hop note and some pineapple and passionfruit flavours as well. Aftertaste shows a decent complexity with some grassy hops at first, a good malt backbone and a little sweetness at the end from fruits. Overall, a nice and robust beer with plenty of complexity and a good solid malt backbone with some nice hop notes on top. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Northern Lights Blvd), Alaska on 26-May-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 25-June-2013.

Bottle - Rich grapefruit, resin and a dark malt background. Clear dark copper with a rich off white head. Dark malts with a candy like sweetness, piney with a hit of bitterness that has a long finish. A little booze and burn in the finish, but otherwise a nice IIPA.

Bottle split at Endo’s, which I acquired from Gigantic, 26/05/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thinnish tan head. Nose is hops, pine, bitter grapefruit, light roast. Taste comprises a mineral bite, bitter grapefruit, hops, light roasr, dusting of cocoa, good pine bite. Medium bodie with bite, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Top notch CDA!

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear copper with full head. Aromas of piney hops, grapefruit, toasted malts and light toffee. Very strong pine flavor with a bit of candy. Quite bitter and acidic. Expecting more based on the nose.
