Description
Gigantic Brewing Company is an independent, crafty brewery located in the Southeast quadrant of the Peoples Republic of Portland. Brewer/Owners Ben Love and Van Havig are veterans of the Oregon brewing community.

At Gigantic we only do two things: make the best damn IPA in Portland, Oregon and produce seasonal, exciting, flavorful beers, most of which will be brewed only once. Our goal is simultaneously to create new interpretations of classic styles and to ignore those same style guidelines completely and brew whatever our creative natures produce.

Seemed like an IPA from the hoppiness. Clear orange pour. Fruit cocktail aroma with lots of citrus. Flavour is more like a pale with some maltiness.

Bottle. Pours dark golden with a finger thick head. Nice dry hopped aroma with orange peel, sweet citrus and apricot, passion fruits and tropical fruits, as well as notes of malt and toffee. Full creamy body with normal carbonation. Flavour is bitter with orange peel, grapefruit and peaches, and a very nice long finish with good grapefruity bitterness. A big and tasty IPA.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear amber with medium head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of sweaty socks, resin, and perfume. Flavors of resin, dried bananas, pepper, and old yellow fruit. Watery. Belgian Ale? - close but a miss.

Pours a hazy golden orange and yields the same colored body with a two finger white foamy head that had some clingy lacing and spider webbed gently, the smell has some floral, citrusy, and lots of piney hops combined with a fresh maltiness for a very good combination, the taste is bittersweet between the hops and malts, very light bittersweet aftertaste, dry finish, it was fairly easy on the palate but still has a good harsh carbonation like an AIPA should have, overall, this is a pretty good AIPA that I would have again

650 ml bottle. Pours amber with light-medium head with lots of carbonation. Aromas of peach and pine. Flavors are similar. Light bitter finish which doesn’t linger long. Pleasant enough - a session beer - but nothing to write home about.

Bottle: I can’t believe how impressed I was over this beer... had a disappointing experience with the Time Traveler, but this blew me away. An amber brown pour with a modest beige head, leads to an aromatic nose of sweet Belgian sugars, yeast, berries, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is a nice weight and the flavors come through bold and balanced. Chocolate, faded citrus hops, caramel, yeast, and Belgian sugars again. Some leather too… reminds me of Adam, one of my long-term favorites, albeit a milder interpretation. Really really nice stuff.

Bottle split at the Croydonia Tasting, big thanks originally to our very own American Dad - Endo ! 13/07/13. Lightly hazed orange/golden with a decent sized light beige head. Nose is caramel malt, pine resin, hops, bitter orange, light trace of booze. Taste comprises orange pith, cocoa nibs, light spice, hops, grapefruit, cocoa backnote. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, well balanced hop bitterness in the finish. Decent IPA - the chocolate is well integrated and noticeable without straying to far from the base product. Well done Gigantic for pulling this off so well. Not to be drunk with something from the shit-in-a-tray merchants - common sense!
