Aroma is better than the taste and texture. Dark brown pour with moderate off-white head. Fruity sweet nose of plum, orange, alcohol and sweet chocolate. The flavor is heavily alcoholic and very sweet with notes of sweet malts, fruit and chocolate milk. Watery texture. Slightly sticky. Warm alcohol finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle (Courtesy of FlacoAlto): Poured a deep copper color ale with huge white head with pretty good retention. Aroma of deep citrus hops with a strong presence of semi-sweet malt. Taste is totally dominated by the mix of citrus hops and strong caramel malt. Body is just above average and carbonation is medium. Alcohol is well hidden. While this is not a bad beer, I feel that it is a bit too one-dimensional and would probably have been happier drinking their regular IPA.

Complex and incredibly sweet beer. Cloudy reddish body with big-bubbled head. Something was off with the carbonation because there was little making an already sweet beer seem even sweeter. Strong nose of sweet sugar, cramel, alcohol, overripe fruit, especially plum, and a slight funky Band-Aid note. The flavor was sweet — fruits, plum, brown sugar, caramel with a warm, peppery alcohol finish. The palate was flat and slightly sticky. Despite its inadequate carbonation, this was still an excellent sipping beer.

Big on hop flavor, big on alcohol, especially in the finish. Large, dense off-white head on top of a cloudy golden body. Heavy nose of grapefruit and pine alongside sweet malts displaying notes of caramel and sugars. Sweet flavor behind heavy bitterness. Medium to full body with a nice, creamy texture. The bitterness continues into the long finish. Alcohol is quite apparent and a little too forward. Dry finish. Excellent.

Copper color with thin white head. Aroma seems light and piney right out of the frig. Flavor, wow, what I’d guess a Holiday IIPA would taste like. Solid pine hop bitterness and flavor. There’s also a fir tree quality that adds a greener dimension to the hops. Maybe it’s a huge dose of late addition hops to the boil. There is the slightest malt sweetness behind this big hop beer. Chewy and yummy.

22oz bomber. Clear golden color with bright white head. Crisp citrus hop aroma with a bit of lemon too. Taste just as it smells. Nice crisp hop flavor with citrus, grapefruit and maybe lemon. Some light pale malts come in to add balance.

On Tap @ Brewery. Dark brown color with creamy tan head. Aroma of rich caramel and molasses malts. Wow, full flavor maltiness from caramel, molasses, some chocolate malts and vanilla. In spite of this and the high gravity a surprising amount of piney hops remain from midway to the finish. The best Scotch Ale I’ve tried to date by a wide margin. I thought I’d had a couple of really good ones too. I really like Pike’s Kilt Lifter on tap and the Wee Heavy blow it away. It’s not even close. Excellent brew!

On Tap @ Brewery. Clear copper color with off white head. Nice spicy coriander, sweet malt and yeast aroma. Sweet malts, sugar, coriander spice along with some yeasty breadiness hints that create nice flavor mix. No sense of the 10% ABV.

22oz bomber. Murky orange to copper color with very thin white head. Rich sweet caramel malty aroma with some light pine hops. Taste as it smells. Caramel malts, some earthiness, some wet hops and pine hop bitterness. Maybe what I’m tasting is hop flavor since the bitterness is on the light side.
Finally trying a fresh bottel of this. Thank you Alesmith for putting dates on the bottle. This fresh bottle is just yummy with crisp tangerine, dank spicy onion, some shallot and light floral hops around the edges. This has plenty of crisp fresh hoppiness that is both snappy and bitter and flavor as well.
