On Tap @ the Liar’s Club. Clear amber color with nice creamy tan head. Full aroma of caramel malts and orange to grapefruit hops. Nice mix of caramel malt sweetness and grapefruit hop bitterness. I love hoppy red ales. There are enough malts to compete and even win over the aggressive hops. Well done.

75cl bottle from Belmont Station, Portland. Black with tan head. Lovely intense dark malt aroma, but smooth, not harsh, promises espresso and bitter choc. In mouth, bitter choc, fruit is blackberry/currant. Then it is just so full in the mouth. Finish goes on forever. Utterly amazing. Better than I hoped, better than I thought. Great espresso coffee. Little criticism is the over carbonation. Finish has more espresso coffee and dark choc delivered on a full body. Hop is there, but doesn’t dominate. Takes you to another plain of sensual enjoyment. Coffee is really distinctive. Stunning. Only point lost for carbonation.

Rating # 600 (None of that nasty stuff for a milestone) Bottle; Nose of malty caramel and plums; hazy copper with a covering of large beiege bubbles; flavor of fruit, caramel, and spices in a medium thick body. A little alcohol lasts into the finish. Heavenly tasting!

Winter 2005 bottle. Pours a bright, clear ruby red into a trappist glass. No head from a vigorous pour. Dark roasted sticky sweet caramel and chocolate. Alcohol very well hidden.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a thin off-white head. Low hop, rich malt, and slight spice aroma. Caramel malt flavor with good depth. Some raisin and berry fruits. Alcohol present and gives some good warmth. Medium body. Woodsy malt lingers with alcohol and spice. Some sherry tones.

Bottle pours a cloudy light orange/amber. Very nice creamy white head. Aroma is mainly light sweet malts. Honey and light brown sugar. A slight cardboard papery note also. Flavor is more of the woody paper hints from before. Quite surprised this is a IIPA as the big brash hoppines is conspicuously absent. Nice rich full malt profile but I realy mis that bright citrusy hop flavor. A couple factors make me think that this might be an old bottle or possibly light struck a bit.Overall decent but not sure of the top 50 status. Thanks to Buckeye for sharing this one

LCRBM2. Hazy chestnut colour with no head. Subtle sour aroma. Good toffee and good hops. Good raisin fruit. Citrus stops it being flabby. Hops are excellent. This took me a bit by surprise and I very much liked it. Went back for more.
