4th beer of my BW fest. Split into 3 brandy glasses. Thank you ClarkVV for the bottle. Cellared for 5 months, fridged for about 45 minutes. Poured with a thin head that quickly became lacing. Color is orange-copper-reddish brown. Some floaties, cannot see through the beer. Strong hop aroma but with that BW sweetness underneath. Not so malty (surprisingly). Hoppiness is spiky tropical fruit. Taste however lacks anything too interesting. Again a muted tropical fruit hop flavor with some bitterness. As it warms I get a lot of sugary candy flavors. I do not see how this would age well. Its nice but nothing spectacular.
Re-rate: Blind @ Cornboy’s 2nd Annual BW tasting. May have been about 3 years old at the time. Aroma is strong burst of alcohol and raisin. Taste has a bit of a roast to it, nice stuff. 7/4/7/4/16.

Aged 6 months. Pours dark brown into a tulip. Significant conglomerate head slowly recedes with large carb hugging the rim. Alcohol and roasted caramel notes. Full bodied and creamy with upfront smoked coffee, chocolate and caramel syrup and a lasting slightly bittersmoke finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a huge foamy head with standard retention. Aroma of citrus hops is quite powerful and dominate. Taste is also overpowered by citrus hops with a metallic aftertaste. There is some caramel malt that is discernable though very faint. I’m not sure I see why this is rated so highly. Overall, this beer is one-dimensional and not properly balance.

750ml bottle-pours a light brown head with brown color. Aroma is malt, vanilla, fruit. Taste is malt, vanilla, fruit.

Bottle Pours a clear orange/copper color with a small sandy head. Aromas of honey and sweet light malts. Flavor is light wody malts, light on the hops, and overall drinkable. Lively carbonation, and fairly light on the pallate. I expected a heavier bodied enty in this style but it was tasty overall. Had this sitting in my cellar before I got around to drinking it.

Thanks to JohnC for sharing this one at Noogfest. I really would like to try this one all by itself in a larger sample and on a clean palate. Thin head of brown over a deep brown body. Brown sugar and bourbon aroma. Very smooth and sweet.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear orangey brown with a very limited head. Aroma of raisins and bourbon - a very distinctive and pleasant aroma that is. Good, full body, slightly tart with massive alcohol. Notes of dried fruit - raisins in particular - raisins soaked in rum, or rather Bourbon as the oak and vanilla really shines through. Lots of roasted malt. Subdued bitterness. A lovely brew. 020606

Bottle #199. The color is deep red with a slight hazy hanging in the beer and with no head. The aroma is very sweet and very malty with strong notes of caramel, but also with signs of the alcohol. The flavor contains strong notes of wood and alcohol, combined with notes of caramel and vanilla, as well as light notes of whiskey. The alcohol tickles the tongue while drinking, and mouthfeel is thick.

Bottle (Courtesy of Hogtownharry): Poured a clear medium brown color ale with a small foamy brown head with minimal retention. Aroma of sweet caramel malt is dominating without being too sweet though. Some floral hops are discernable but nothing overwhelming. Taste is also dominated by sweet malt but I can’t find any complexity of dry fruits characteristics that I usually enjoy. Some hops provide a slightly bitter finish but nothing to overshadow the rest of the beer. Body is defiantly too thin and watery for my liking and alcohol is well hidden. Even do I usually enjoy English style barleywine, I cannot say that I was overly impressed by this one.
