Bottle from Melbicks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Pours a murky amber, very small off-white head, some retention. Aroma is malty, biscuit, fig, light zest, spice. Decent. Taste sadly is a bit 'dishwater' and unrefined. Malty, semi-sweet with a light fruity tang and a modest grassy bitterness. Light to medium bodied, fairly refreshing with a decent zing to the carbonation with a tingle of spice. This beer supports student enterprise but knowing students if they drank it, it would put them off traditional ale for 10 years. Not that its that bad but it would be a hard time convincing them of the merits as it is.

Bottle at home, picked up from the Co-Op in Honeybourne, 22/01/23. Moderately hazed golden amber with a good sized lasting just off white head. Nose is bready, biscuit, hint of vanilla, stewed fruits, grains, touch of orange zest. Taste comprises earthy fruits, hedgerow, herb, biscuit, grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter edge. Decent enough golde ... although at 5.6% it's nearer an English Strong!

500ml bottle taken away from BeerTorrent, Leamington Spa, and drunk at home. Very brownish gold, hazy with a small ring of loose white head. Malty aroma, some caramel, some hay. Sweet taste, very malt-led, with lightly medicinal British hops in the balancing finish. Light citrus peel in the finish. Full body with soft carbonation. Dull but refreshing.

Bottle from British Local Craft. Just a vague aroma here, a mix of yeast and malts. Pours a chrome yellow with a small white head. In the mouth, it’s a toss up as to whether the old school hops, or the sweet and fruity malts hit the taste buds first. Just a hitn of some citrus as well. The bitterness wins out at the finish. I rather like this – though I’m not quite sure why !

[50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring.] A bright amber pour with a thin white head and ample lacing; hedbgerow fruit aroma; fruity taste, quite sweet to start, but developing a pleasing tartness; and a nicely bitter aftertaste. A satisfying, full bodied, bitter.

[50cl bottle of Muddy Wellies Original Ale from Westholme Stores, Goring.] A hazy reddish amber pour with a loose cream coloured head; yeasty aroma; sweet caramel malt body with some sour fruit; and then a dry finish with licorice and aniseed. A distinctive taste that starts to grow on me after a while.
