Description
The microbrewery is founded by Achilles Van de Moer on the passion for special beers. After 7 years of trials with different beers, the decision to start a microbrewery in Itegem was made in 1999. The brand name of beers is “Serafijn”. All beers are high fermentation brews, with second fermentation in the bottle. Most of the beers are contract brewed, but some of them are also brewed at their own location.
In 2015 Achilles became part of Caupona bvba (of the Prik & Tik stores in Heist-op-den-Berg and Herselt). The brewery is now called ''Brouwerij Serafijn.'' That is the new company in Heist that houses the Serafijn beers. The former microbrewery in Itegem has been dismantled.
The beer is now brewed at the Pirlot brewery in Zandhoven.

Gusher alert!
Clear red to orange beer, big creamy to fizzy off-white head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: banana overload, very sweet and sugary, yeast, some orange peel, more banana. MF: way too much carbonation, medium to full body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, lots of overripe banana, some citrus, yeast. Aftertaste: little spicy, soft bitterness, cloves, bit of orange peel, yeast.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems & Zoon. Only lightly hazy burned sugar amber, off-white head. Nose is sticky BE, burned sugar, brown apple, herbal malts & iron touch. High carbonation, way too high. Fizzy metallic, herbal, tad empty sticky BE beer, leaves, bark, bitter herbal spices, tad bitter ginseng, faint herbal alcohol. Pretty unexciting Belgian, not that good either.

4oz pour at Churchkey DC pours a hazy orange with some sudsy, white head. Nose has strange notes of jalapeno jelly, dusy, honey, yeast. Flavor is more classic, honey, mild raisin, mild spice, booze. Sticky finish. Weird.

Not a bad beer, about halfway between a strong dark and a strong pale. Pours hazy amber with good head and lacing. Some sweetness and florals in this. Tap at Churchkey.
