Description

Bottle shared at IJssel & Gouwe Bierfestival. Hazy golden orange with no head. Dead looking, really looks flat. Aroma of malt, wort, biscuit, toffee and light yeast. Flavour is above light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with actually a little carbonation coming out.

0.33 l bottle from ’T-Drinks’, best before April 2017. Murky, golden brown with a thin, very fluffy, quickly collapsing, white head. Sweetish, a little yeasty-spicy and musty aroma of biscuits, sweet bread, toffee, some clove and a touch of banana. Sweet, slightly yeasty-spicy taste of toffee, some honey, grains, some clove and fint hints of banana, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Has only little to do with a proper Weizen, really dull and doesn’t look very appealing as well. Absolutely not worth its hefty price tag, unfortunately.

Small to medium dark beige head, slightly irregular and not very stable, over dark redbrown beer. Chocolate, chocolatemalt, dark malts, dark sweet bread. Black chocolate, ovomaltine, Ersatzchocolate, bit other grains. Dark grains, bread, and drier than the nose suggested. Even hint at alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied at least, quite slick, medium carbonation. By far the best from Slot Oostende so far, which is slighlty surprising as it is not exactly my favourite ’style’. Good job, Jens! Thanks to Marco and Jens!

Medium, rather dense white head over well-carbonated hazy yellow beer. Dull-spicy nose, some wheat, dried flowers. Wheat, citrussy spiced. Sweetish malts and lightly sourish wheat. Spicy finish (no coriander). Well-carbonated, wheatslickness, but not very well-bodied. Quite refreshing. Decent wheat ale, somewhere halfway Weizen and wit. Many thanks to Marco and Jens! In the shops from 11/05

Small to medium, yellowish tinted head, fast gone over lightly carbonated, clear old-golden beer. Dry nose, rootspices, but some fresh citrus/-zeste, bit flowery. Strange mix of malt sweetness and citrussy, zesty flavours (mainly orange). Pinch of Mandarine Napoléon or Cointreau Orange. Suffers again from undercarbonation, making it appear more lame than it is. Medium bodied at best, backthroat hints at alcohol. Decent, if rather sweet tripel. Yeast seems not very active, might explain both lack of carbonation and high restsugars. Txs to Marco and Jens! In the shops from 11/05 onwards

Good light-yellowish head over copperish, clear golden beer, not very carbonated. Cornflakes, dried herbs and spices/peppery; rainwater, quite demure. More cornflakes, bit toaste; the herbs being more fresh & lively in the flavour. Light sweetness, bit grassy. Light to medium bodied; certain slickness; slowly dwindling flavours in the finish. Is a bit undercarbonated. Better than the sum of its parts, quite easily drinking beer. The nose, at least, ought to show more punch, IMHO. Txs to Marco and Jens! Available from 11/05 in the shops.
