Bottle bought at Kew Gardens, drunk at home. Colour is dark gold, looks the tiniest bit hazy, with a tight white head. Some gooey malt in the aroma alongside the light citrus notes. Perfectly balanced taste, sweet and juicy with contained bitterness in the short to medium finish. I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did, partly due to previous rates, partly due to the ’English hop’ malarkey. But this is incredibly well done.

330ml bottle, take-out from GBBF 16, drunk on the train home. Pours a reassuring black with frothy tan-to-beige head. Aroma is roast, pine hop. Taste is light and breezy with soft floral English hops and nice roast on the finish. Nice easy-drinker for the train.

330ml bottle from deli at Kew Bridge. Hazy amber colour, off-white foam head and earthy yeasty aroma. Taste is bready malt, alittle caramel, biscuit with fruity, woody, spicy hop and tangy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite OK.

Level 42 botteshare. Thanks to Daniel. Hazy gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is airy and soft, mild carbonation. Mildly creamy sweet malts. Weird floral bitterness, well skewed from the normal. Spicy dried fruits. Light dry finish. Bitter linger. Not very nice.

Level 42 botteshare. Thanks to Danny. Hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft pale malts. Light floralness. Tangy dried fruits, some bitterness. Touch of citric peel. Smooth finish leaves a mild bitter linger. Okay. 3.0

Pig’s Ear Fest. Cask. Smooth malts, sweetish. Good orangey hops - ripe orange and marmalade and a little fresher spicy orange. Smooth semi dry finish. Spicy hop linger. Decent.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 19th June 2016. Amber with thin off-white foam and spot lacing. Pungent yeasty aroma. Leafy herbiness in-mouth with further earthy pungency. A sweet caramel kick. A sweet finish of fruit and maltiness. Full-bodied with a smooth, slightly clingy mouthfeel.
