Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.
Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.
In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.
Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ Borefts 2015. Day 2. Black, solid mocha head. Nose is sweet mocha, caramel, light roast, okay, not really getting peat which is fine by me. Nose is sweet, light peat (no excess good), chocolate, cereal, candy, sugar, light peat & touch roast in the finish. Body is a bit thin. Okay, peat is in a good amount, the whole is not particularly exciting but works well enough.

Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ Borefts 2015. Day 2. Dark brown, creamy mocha head. Nose is sweet chocolate, cacao, huge sweet vanilla barrel, sweet brown sugar whiskey,… Taste is sweet pudding, caramel, sweet coffee, sugar, sweet vanilla brown sugar whiskey, caramel, huge desert chocolate cake, brownies,… Body is like a smoothie, caramel, sugar,… Awesome, finally the greatness that I was hoping for from Kees! Others may disappoint but this one & Pink Grapefruit IPA are just awesome, hope the future brings more greatness like this.

Bottle picked up at Kaapse Brouwers Bottle Shop, consumed at Stichting Camping Het Loze Vissertje Camping Nr Dordrecht, Tuesday 29th September 2015 Black, oil slick beer, any head (if there was one) got sucked into the black hole. This is a bloody corker of a beer. I have spent over an hour drinking it, it’s bloody marvellous, thick, tarry and only in the mouth, treacley, rich, dark, malty rich and malty, bloody marvellous, totally taken aback by this beer, a surprise hit, love it.

At Borefts. ’Black saison’ sounds like a contradiction in terms, but anything goes nowadays and this is not the first one, so maybe we’ll end up with a different substyle eventually. Creamy, light beige head over a deep misty bronze coloured beer. Aroma of caramel, blue grapes, lemon peel, dried flowers, coffee grounds, hazelnuts, black tea; dried fruits in the mouth, sweetish with a soft but refreshing citrus peel sourishness, vague umami flavours as well (seaweed), soft mouthfeel, roasted touch with a dry finish. Nice.
