Description
XT Brewing Co is an innovative, independent brewery crafting a wide range of exceptional beers. Our XT beers form the core range of characterful, full flavoured brews and our wild side, Animal Brewing Co, pushes the boundaries with new and exciting one-off specials. The options are as infinite as the natural world.
We designed and installed our 18 barrel brewery during 2011 and brewed the first full scale gyle in November 2011. The equipment was custom built for us in Burton upon Trent.
The brewery is on the beautiful Notley Farm estate on the Oxfordshire Buckinghamshire borders, with far reaching views over the Chiltern hills. We are as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible; recycling nearly all our waste products and our spent raw materials go to local farmers to feed their cattle and pigs.

Cask at GBBF 2018. It pours clear deep brown with a small bubbly white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, tangy, orange marmalade, kumquat, oily, cointreau and earth. The taste is dry, bitter, oily, earthy, brandy, slick, chewy, tannin, earl grey tea, spice, warming alcohol and booze with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation carbonation. Chewy and hearty. Funstuff.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Hazy amber beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Smooth and semi dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Dry malts, light dry wood. Mildly bitter toffee. Brandy comes through, light but clear. Marmalade hops bring up the rear. Mild spice too. Interesting and drinkable.

Cask handpull at GBBF 2018. Hazy russet colour lasting beige head. Slightly sour but also slightly sweet malt. Sweetish malty barley wine almost. With some sour grapefruit. Pretty authentic for an English strong ipa. Good hedgerow grapefruit finish. Good to style and a good example. Not the barrel aged version

(Cask at Harp, Charing Cross, London, 28 May 2018) Reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, red fruit and orange peel. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of caramel, crisp-bread, orange peel, a touch of resin and a balanced citric/resiny bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Not black, but considerably dark brown with a tan head. Herbal/cress notes in the aroma with a bit of roast malt, liquorice and spruce. Bitter taste from the outset, but it sweetens slightly for a more balanced finish. Some medicinal astringency on the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Odd, but it works.

Cask (Overdraft, Winchester) - Dark amber/light brown in colour. Pine, grapefruit and some roasted and chocolatey notes in the aroma. Hoppy and slightly fruity taste with grapefruit, blackcurrant, pine and hints of liquorice. Quite nice but I do not know if the recipe has been tweaked since last year as it was darker than some of the other reviews described. Nice though.
