Established in 2003
Back in 2003 we decided to go commercial with our latest creation, a Belgian Dark Strong Ale called “Pannepot”. Not with an own installation, for that we did not have the money yet, however, we proceeded as gipsy brewers. First at the Coulier Brewery and later at the nearby Deca Brewery in Woesten / Vleteren. In 2009, we moved to a school facility in the village of Oostvleteren, and where we’ve been brewing our beers independently since 2012.

Re-rate from tap at La Tape, Madrid. Nice red amber clouds with a creamy offwhite head. Light fruity aroma. Dry herbal and berrylike base, a bit perfume, low level Belgian yeast notes. Medium to light dry body, mellow mouthfeel. Pleasant, but Not nearly as interesting as last time I tried it I think. Old rating: 6 3 7 3 14 Tap - sampled at the Copenhagen beerfestival 2005 Slight fruiy tartness in aroma. Cloudy yellow, creamy head. Fruity and spongy (in a good way) flavor, quite refreshing. Sparkly mouthfeel.

Cloudy yellow, whipped cream head. Nice texture, full candy banana, but not overdone, nice balance. Need a full sample of this one :-)

2004 bottle provided by Rastacouere at the Mondial Ratebeer Tasting, 6/4/2005.
Hazy, drab-olive brown. Very earthy toned and resembling the Trappist beers exactly. Initial medium-sized beige head recedes slowly to cover/ring, leaving little lacing. Raspberries, fresh and juicy, in the aroma, with deep, richly extracted brown malts and a smooth Belgian yeast. Further sniffing provides more brown sugar, toffee, barley and yeast. I love it! Very strong aroma. Sweet toffee and brown sugar-like maltiness to start the flavor, light balancing bitterness and omnipresent yeast. Just beautiful and artfully done. Tannins provide light tartness, some brown tea-leaves towards the end and an easygoing, yet full body and mouthfeel. Low carbonation, no alcohol noted, which is impressive, because I can find it in Westy 12 and Rocheforte 10. Caramelly malt is decidedly malty, not sugary. Vanilla essences linger on. . .I think I like this better than Rocheforte 10 and about as much as Westy 12, mabye more.

Original rating: Muddy brown colour like chocolate fudge. Large, dense head. Voluptuous aroma - figs, milk chocolate, sherry, alcohol, fruitcake, demerara, double devonshire cream...dessert in a glass. Silky sweet palate - this beer glides effortlessly like Lijiang Yinjiu. A sensual combination of the softest Belgian chocolate, the sweetest dates, whisky nectar - the lush maltiness of Ardbeg without the phenols. Pannepot is evocative - the guilty euphoria of a childhood bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough. This is an artist’s finest hour - a masterpiece.
2006 bottle, consumed in 2012. Dark brown, there was some head early, and it’s opaque I think with yeast. The aroma is sweet, sugary malts with light, date and fig dark sugars. Silky sweet, very smooth. There are some soy sauce notes from oxidation, but a very refined beer with a lot of luscious sweet sugars. This is very good, although I don’t like it as much as a fresh Pannepot. 3-8-9-4-17 = 4.1

Bottled. Mahogany colour, rich head. Aroma of red berries. Sweet, lightly roasty and rather vinous. Richly malty with velvetty soft mouthfeel. Powerful, yet balanced. A full bodied, intensely aromatic world class beer.
