Description
Harvey's is the oldest independent Brewery in Sussex. Founded by John Harvey in 1790 it still remains a privately owned family business, with the eighth generation currently working there. We pride ourselves on the craft of our brewing, environmental credentials, local distribution, local charitable activities and loyal staff. Widely known for our Best Bitter, our beers and pubs can be found in and around the South East. As a Regional Brewer we tend not distribute further than 60 miles from the brewery premises, however our beers can be purchased via our online shop shop.harveys.org.uk and at our Brewery Shop in Lewes. Old rating from 26-08-16 - A 500ml bottle brought back from Lewis by a friend last year. Best before Sep 16. It pours a clear brown toffee colour with a thin white head that doesn't last long. The aroma is toasty, bitter-sweet with flora, light vanilla, toffee, fruit loaf, dried fruits & brown sugar. The taste is bitter-sweet, brown bread, earth, toasty, dried fruits, grainy & earth. Medium body and moderate carbonation. The finish is dry and malty with hints of caramel in a mild bitter finish.

Old rating from 10-05-16 - 500ml bottle titled 'Sussex Wild Hop' from the brewery shop. A gift from a friend who visited Lewis for work. Pours a clear amber colour with a off white head that disperses quickly. Aromas of hop & grain. Tastes of grass, bread as well as hop and grain leading to a mild bitter finish. Overall I was expecting much more having tasted other beers from this brewery.

9.3 oz. bottle from Florida Cork & Bottle. Pours a crystal clear orange-bronze color with a beige head and good retention. Good lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Faint caramel flavor with some dark fruit and a long, mild hops and bitter finish. Mellower than I expected. Medium body. Light carbonation with a semi-slick mouthfeel. Low bitterness. The 7.5% ABV is well hidden. Tastes like a typical amber ale to me. Okay.

500ml bottle from Middle Farm, Firle. Poured a clean medium amber with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is malt, nutty. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, fresh, malt, light citrus, nutty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Med Steven på The Roebuck Inn, etter Parsifal på Glyndebourne: klar rødlig kastanjefarge med fint skum som varer. En smaksrik maltdrevet bitter, jordaktige toner, skog og delikat krydder bitterhet. Close to the source, og naturligvis velpleiet fra cask.

Poured a medium viscous brown. Nuts? Fruits spices. Some yeasty syrupy gunk. Ok but a bit off.
