Description

33 cL bottle. Pours clear orange with a huge crispy head. Aroma yeasty, earth and fruity with caramel malt base beneath. Flavour starts sweet caramel, going into a complex fruit palate before the yeast becomes appearant. Finish holds a strong spiced bitterness with a clear alcohol presence. Certainly not one of my favourite trappists.

Original rating on 05/07/2007 updated on 07/04/2008. Hazy golden body with a large rocky white head. Sweet fruity and yeasty aroma with tons of candi sugar and caramelization. Sweet fruity sugary flavor with some light yeast, more caramelization and a bit of candi sugar. Medium body with fairly high carbonation.

(Bottle) Dark copper colour with huge beige head leaving thick traces of lacing. Malty, herbal, peppery nose with toasty notes of chocolate, toffee, caramel and dried fruit. Malty, spicy, slightly vinous taste with notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate and spicy hops in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel, rather dry, with a certain alcohol bite coming through in the finish. Very enjoyable.

(bottle, with thanks to bierkoning!) Cloudy orange colour with a huge, slightly off-white foamy head. Dusty, sweet pale malty aroma with a rounded, aromatic fruitiness (lemon, peach) and subtle coriander spice. Sweet flavour but not superficial, medium to full bodied with a lively carbonation. Solid malty base with yeasty and fruity notes upfront, growing spices towards the finish, which is fruity, malty, sweet-bitter and slightly hoppy. Very well-rounded brew.

Bottle courtesy of Boboski: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge foamy head with perfect retention. Aroma of cookie dough malt is just about perfect. Taste is also dominated by cookie dough malt with some nice sweet malt and a mild yeasty finish. Alcohol was well concealed with a nice full body. I thought this was somewhat reminiscent of Rochefort 10 but maybe a tad more light and not as complex but still very rewarding.
