Ausgeprägt fruchtiger und angenehmer Geruch. Vorab: die 8% schmeckt man an keiner Stelle heraus. Die erwähnte Fruchtigkeit nimmt auch im Geschmack den größten Teil ein und erfreut mit einem leichten Marzipanaroma den Gaumen. Im Nachgeschmack kommen auch leichte malzige Aromen dazu, die allerdings keine allzu große Rolle spielen. Das Bier ist von vorne bis hinten harmonisch und sehr gelungen. Boring pour... dingy light amber/dark straw color with minimal head. Aromas are nice and hit you from a distance. Bananas and cloves dominate with a bit of a sweet apple overtone. Bread is also dominant in the nose along with a fair ammount of sweetness. Flavor is pretty consistent with smell, and there is a smooth blending here that makes it a nice drink. It is smoother than a lot of the other Belgian Ales I’ve tried by not quite as complex either.

11.2 oz bottle - Pours dark brown with a moderate head. The pleasing aroma is of sugar, yeast, and dark fruits. Dark fruit and malts come to the fore in the flavor. It’s rather smooth with a touch of roast. The body is moderately full and the finish on the dry side. It’s just plain good.

Bottle. Huge huge white head with very long duration. Color is hazy golden with lots of yeast sediments. Aroma is fruity. Taste is light and sweet with some hints of citrus.

Excellent in every way. At $10 on sale, it is one of the most expensive beers I have purchased but it is well worth the price. It pours a dark, dirty brown with lots of yeast in the glass. Aroma has light fruit and very sweet malt, also light brandy and oak. Flavor is mostly sweet malt, some fruit again, caramel, sugar, and fermenting fruit. Thick and heavy. Hard to get better than this.

330 ml bottle, bought in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Hazy golden colour, huge white head. Fairly moderate but very nice spicy, wheaty and fruity aroma. Flavour is spicy / peppery and sweet, with distinct bitter hops, hints of oak. Warming mouthfeel, alcohol is evident but not dominant. Another good Trappist!

Bottled 1/04 Nose was yeasty/citrusy; color was hazy yellow tinged with orange; flavor was malty and citrusy with a little hoppiness in the bacground. Alcohol was well covered, I just barely could notice it under the other flavors.

Cloudy, brown pour with off-white, thin head. Strong, yeasty aroma with notes of raisins and citrus. The flavor was less sweet than I anticipated based on the aroma and yielded a bitter aftertaste. Still, there were notes of orange and fruits below a yeasty, earthy mustiness. Medium body and slightly dry finish. Nice.
