(On tap 33 cl) Dark golden with a slight haze. Lovely, creamy head leaving a beautiful lacing. Ligh malty notes and a rather dry hoppiness - without being very bitter. Light in body. Very refreshing and easy-to-drink trappist. 110505

Bottle. Fruity, malty, yeasty, peppery aroma. Golden colour, hint of cloudiness. White semi-stable head. Flavour yeasty, fresh fruit, malty, alcoholic. Mild, caramelly aftertaste. Astringent rather than bitter. Swelling mouthfeel.

Bottle. Amber beer with a big off-white head. Fruity/yeasty aroma. Summer fruit flavors with a yeast/spice backing and some malt.

Bottle. Malty aroma, hint of brown sugar. Dark chestnut brown colour. Big stable creamy light brown head. Flavour of malt and brown sugar. Very late peppery aftertaste. A bit high in carbonation, but after a bit of a shake, the mouthfeel is nice and soft. I do not find this as complex as other Trappists, but it is very nice indeed with its perfect balance between maltiness and alcohol.

Draught at the monastry Yellow, sparkling body. White head, fair lace. Light hops and light yeast in the nose. Lightly acidic, lightly bitter flavour. Lightly bodied.

Draught at the monastry Lightly brown, mostly diminishing head on top of a clear, ruby body. Nose of grass and grapefruits. Lightly to medium bodied. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately bitter, lightly acidic finish.

Cloudy orange, big off-white head. Soft aroma, citrus, bit spicy. Taste is slight sweet, fruity of orange and citrus. Sirupy texture. This is just how i like my triple to be! :-)

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale in my Trappist glass with a good inch of off-white foamy head with excellent retention. Aroma of roasted malt, sweet floral hops and unknown spices springs from my glass. Taste is somewhat spicy and well balance by the malt and the funky yeast. Overall, better then some other Belgian Strong Ale but not as good as Rochefort… Re-rate 2008: Spicy yeast with some distinguishable alcohol. A bit too hot maybe better after 6 months or so.

Unsure of the date on this one, sampled at Julios Spring Beer Fest, 04/02/05. Bottle. Pour is a light straw yellow, with a faint tinge of amber. White head is large and mostly lasting. Aroma of light bret, spicy hops and hay, quite dry and rustic, with some white pepper, and perhaps some caravienne and biscuit malts. Dryness in the nose is very pronounced in the body. A uniquely flavored beer, for me, as I have tasted little like this. Some similarities to Orval, though nowhere near as hoppy, but it has that dry, almost band-aid like yeast quality, with some hay and light bread/grains. Dry toast, lightly astringent. Seems like lots of white pepper, though that may just be lots of dry biscuit malt. Engaging carbonation is natural and does not interrupt the medium, smooth body. No alcohol noted, wow, didnt realize this was 8 abv. Some honey, band-aids/plastic and cracked grains linger on, but ultimately far too dry for my tastes.
