Brown, maybe red/brown with a short lived, offwhite head. Intense aroma of cherries, earth and port. Flavour was disappointing, mostly earth, but I suspect the bottle could be slightly skunked (not my fault, I bought it today)

A hazy orange beer with a collapsing white head. The aroma is sweet and yeasty, while the flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, oranges, hops, and oranges.

Bottled, thanks BierKönig! Hazy golden. Fruity tangerine aroma. Lovely dense, soft malt character. Orangey hops and almondy yeast character adds to the pleasure. Salty finish. Wonderfully complex.

Hazy golden color. Peculiar aroma: malt, brown sugar, yeast fruitness... Good Belgian beer (not a Triple), fruity malts, good bitterness (medium old hops), but probably tasted too warm. Thanks Jeppe for sharing this rare bottle.

Golden, somewhat hazy colour. HUGE head. Yeast and citrus aroma. Somewhat fruity with a light body. Alcohol finish. Drinkable but simple.

330ml bottle, bought at Borough Market, London. Pours with a large light tan head, colour is brown, slightly hazy. Excellent aroma: Oak, sandalwood, camphor, caramel, toffee, spices. Flavour has caramel, spices, oak - but is not quite as complex as I hoped. Still very good - it’s a Trappist! Moderate but decent hops + spices in the finish.

Bottle at Cooperstown Belgian Ale Fest August 2004. Brown ale with restrained malts and ginger in aroma. Not much carbonation. Very sweet malts with plums and good hops in finsih. Alcohol not noticeable.

Aroma of earthy red wine. Dirt. Apples and pears. Alcohol. Malt. Red with a thick off white head. Earthy taste also. Smooth. Flavors of malt, salt. Light fruit and herbal qualities. Sweet. Full bodied. Very good. Drink by date: November ’05.

Deep hazy orange, floating yeast particles. Off-white medium head. Fruity, malty, a bit lemon nose, not very strong. Palate is smooth and very carbonated. Flowery, lemon, yeasty flavor. Like drinking foam! Interesting and excellent blond.

Bottle @ Belgian Beer Fest. Typical abt/quad appearance, that is to say, dull, muted brownish grey tones, with a hint of yellows and light burgundy around the edges. Good foamy off-white head and a fair amount of haziness. Aroma is quite sweet, almost like raisins soaked in a candi sugar solution. Light notes of dry alcohol waft up as well. Good amount of caramel. Flavor is full of caramel, toffee, perfectly balanced yeastiness (banana, light angel food cake, vanilla frosting, sugar cookie dough) and a hint of alcohol. This isnt raisins and prunes to the max, which is a great change. It’s also not ridiculously bitter. A very easy drink, very flavorful, if somewhat lacking of the more complex earthy and estery notes. Notes of chocolate even, as it finishes and perhaps a touch of vinousness. I really enjoyed this one. As the bottle sat open, breathing, there was little carbonation, and the body was medium.
