Belgo Sapiens was officially born on August 27, 2015, the date the first brew was released. 15 years after his training, 15 years after traveling around the world, 15 years after the development of the brewpubs between France and Canada, Damien Demunter opened Belgo Sapiens in his homeland, a brewery with a strong brewing heritage and proud of its terroir.

33cl bottle from Carrefour Market Cours St. Michel in Brussels. F: huge, tanned, good retention. C: dark coppery to brown, almost clear. A: malty, caramel, mellow fruity, bit coffee, red apples peels. T: medium malty backbone, caramel, fruity, bit toasted tones, bready, dry on the palate, bit herbal, medium body and carbonation, nice balanced for the style, enjoyable beer for sure.

Son nez est assez caramélisé et sucré avec notes de cassonnade, de sucre d’orge, de toffee, de réglisse rouge et une légère touche d’alcool. Le fruité des houblons est également très légèrement perçu avec une touche de fruits tropicaux. Esters et phénols sont trop subtils, quasi inexistants. Brune aux reflets cuivrés, plutôt claire, elle développe une mousse beige pétillante qui persiste moyennement mais qui laisse un filet s’attarder sur le liquide. Caramel et toffee prennent beaucoup de place à l’entrée de bouche se confondant dans un alcool bien présent qui se mêle à une amertume légèrement résineuse et épicée en fin de bouche. Les esters sont encore une fois à peu près inexistants. L’équilibre se fait entre le malt et l’alcool. Alcool, épices et caramel en sont d'ailleurs les composantes majeures de cette Dubbel correcte tout au plus. Les esters de fruits noirs auraient contribué pour beaucoup à sa complexité. Dommage.

22/11/2018 @home - 33cl can from? Malt Attacks I suppose? Clear light brown, medium fading light tanned head. Nose is malts, bit red fruits, caramel, grains. Taste is malts, caramel, bit fruits, bit spice, some hops at the end. Dry ending. Bit surprising as a double. Yeah!

33cl bottle. A clear orange brown beer with a mid-sized good lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramelish malt, red malt, resinous bitter hops. Taste of reddish malt, resins, pine, caramel, pine, medium to long bitter finish.

Thuis uit een flesje. Mooie diep donkerbruine kleur, beige schuim. Prima porter, mooi laag abv.

33cl bottle. A clear pale golden beer with a huge most good lasting white head. Aroma of mild grassy hops, flowers, mild citrus. Taste of dry grassy and floral hops, hay, some citrus and flowers, not bad!

Pretty clear amber to red brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: quite some chocolate, bit of caramel, soft roast, mocha, coffee notes, some vanilla. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, some roast, bit of caramel, little bitter, lots of cocoa powder, malty. Aftertaste: pretty dry, cocoa powder, hoppy finish, soft roast, some grains, spicy, cloves, nutmeg.

Clear, dark amber to dark brown, strong to overfoaming beige head. Aroma is malty, roasted, bready, Belgian yeasty, some dark fruity notes. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, some roasted notes, bready and Belgian yeast, bit overripe dark fruity. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily.
