Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

From a 650ml bottle on 15/7/2012 (shared with Butz - thanks). Pours close to black with a smallish head. Has a strong aroma of chico baby and milk chocolate. The flavour is very sweet with lots more milk chocolate, some roasty malt, and a touch of caramel. Has a slightly thin texture. Nicely balanced, with just a enough bitterness to keep the sweetness in check. A very solid porter.

Tap at Craft Beer Co. It pours cloudy light orange, with a thick yellow-white head. The nose is orange squash, creaminess, grapefruit, sharpness, sherbet, dough and flour. The taste is orange squash, grapefruit, spice, leather, straw, citrus pith, bread, sherbet and resin, with a bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice juicy citrus going on.

Keg at Craft. Hazy amber beer, tidy white head. Smooth soft palate with fine carbonation. A beer of 2 halves if ever there was one. The first half is very grainy - raw malt - off putting. The second half loses the raw malt and has pleasant sweet hops, tangerine and orange and orange marmalade. Finishes semi dry. Hard to mark this one!

22 ounce bottle. Pours a almost pure black color with a small off-white head after a bit. The aroma is light chocolate and roast notes. The flavor is nice: vanilla and coffee beans, lighter milk, roast, metallic hops, very smooth. A nice brew, spot on for the style. A bit earthy for sure. This would be amazing on cask.
