Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

Bottle, 10C. Clear amber with a large white head that lasts pretty well. Floral aroma with pine and grapefruit, marmalade. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Fairly sweet with plain clean caramel before bitter citrus flavours emerge seamlessly. Pine and citrus with some medicinal touches at the end - just a little harsh at first. Bitterness lingers. It is pretty sweet and the malt side is doing little more than supporting the hop show, but everything’s working together. Decadent but coherent. 8 3 8 4 16 [3.9]Can. Wow, terrible. Syrupy and very boozy, boiled lolly citric bitterness. I was pleased to see this in cans, but bad enough to be a never again. 6 3 5 2 9 = 2.5. Averaging score.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Hazy copper color. Strange aroma: very rough hops, with some bitter oranges, hop resins, but also Munster cheese, sundried tomatoes, feet, vegetables; peculiar, chaotic, but original. The body is not too thick fortunately, the residial sweetness is well controlled; there is a strong flavor of caramel, with some toffee, strong hop resins, bitter oranges, and again that character of vegetables, tomato sauce and soup. Umami beer. Long final.
The peculiar side of this beer (probably coming from the hops and not from the fermentation) is actually quite original and appreciated; overall it’s balanced too.
Earthy and rustic.
At 40kr (7$) for 20cl, somebody is trying to justify fuel surcharge on transportation.

Aroma is sweet with semi‐ripe exotic fruits, feels like American Barley Wine. Flavour is very sweet with exotic fruits, fruit sugar and caramel. Way too sweet stuff for me.
