Shaker pint draft at 810 Zone in Leawood, Kansas. Pour is orange amber brown, clear, with a 2 inch off white head. Nice settling. Aroma of resin, wood, some floral earth bitterness, balanced nicely with a toasted biscuit maltiness. Fresh and clean. Taste has nice toasted mildly sweet caramel malt followed quickly by the mild resin earth bitterness of the nose. As with the aroma, very natural and fresh. Palate is medium, lowish carbonation, with a nice caramel mineral element to the finish. Nice one.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a lovely vibrant orange-amber color with a large orange-beige head that lingered and created great lacing. The aroma was very tart, bitter and sour with moderate fruity hops. There was an odd but interesting sourness to the aroma. The flavor was full of strong fruity and piney hops and tart & tangy malts with a light underlying sourness. Very sweet overall with a moderate bready element. The finish was long, tart, sour and fruity. The body was thick, full and smooth. Lovely.

Bottle. Pours a fizzy pale yellow with a fizzy head and aromas of lemon grass and light honey. Flavor has a heavy lemon side to it and is fairly sweet. Light mouthfeel and lots of carbonation.

A kolsch is a style a real beer lover wants to love. The style is so rare, and it is so difficult to find a good example. This isn’t it. Grain, corn, with chemical adjuncts. Gold, thin head. light palate. Drinkable, but nothing to enjoy.

Rather ordinary brown ale. Malt, and no real hops. Brown color, and a solid session beer that is drinkable enough but has little to offer.

Coriander in the aroma. Lightly spiced wit, just a little citrus. Fairly sweet, and a cloudy appearance. Not too bad.

Small but strong head forms from the pour. Color is a clear golden/straw, some carbonation bubbles travel the body. Aroma is full on pilsner with thick straw-malt character. Flavor is similar, some white bread malt sweetness at the end. A surprisingly fuller body for this kind of a brew. Very low on the hops. Nothing special, nothing flawed, I could keep drinking this all day if need be.
12oz bottle, BB the 291st day in 2009, so must have been bottled sometime in mid-June, Free State willibecker glass.
