Bottle pour into pint glass from Globe Drug. Aroma is strong caramel with alcohol--similar to barleywine. Appearance is hazy orange-brown with off-white head, nice sparkle and trace lacing. Taste is strong caramel with alcohol. Palate is medium bodied with slippery texture, soft carbonation and pleasant warm feeling in the stomach and sweet fruity/floral alcohol finish. Bitterness is experienced in the back of the mouth/teeth rather than aroma/taste. Overall, I might doubt my rating a little since this is likely a little old (is there any other kind from Globe Drug?) but the consistency with other ratings tells me this is more on than off. A nice sipping beer--strong with copious caramel maltiness and the alcohol comes through, but in a nice way. But, with the balance toward the malty side rather than hoppy, this suggests to me that it was a bit old.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Dark caramel and bourbon aromas. Sweet bourbon and oak upfront turning to tart cherry before the lasting, dry earth finish.

12oz bottle picked up at Supermarket Liquor
Pours clear golden with a small off-white head, some lacing. Aroma of pine resin, caramel and citrus. Taste is malty, grassy, bready, citrus and spicy hops
Decent but I wouldn’t want another one.

bottle - Pours dark brown and has a malt rich aroma with chocolate, coffee, and subdued spice. It has a sweet malt forward flavor with cocoa and mild cinnamon. It’s fairly good though I thought it would taste more complex with all those added ingredients. They kind of blended together, I guess.

tap - Pours hazy gold and has a big citrus hop aroma. It has a big bitter hop flavor with some good citrus character and a long bitter finish. There’s caramel malt and it’s a bit cough syrupy. Overall it’s pretty good though a little underwhelming for one of my favorite styles. A "session double IPA" with 8% abv? Now they’re just being silly.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours ruddy brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of pie spice, ginger, and chili. Med body or better. Flavor is pie spice, dark malt/treacle, ginger, chili, and arguably chocolate. There’s a lot going on here, maybe more than reasonable. Certainly is a flavorful thing. Finishes neither dry nor bitter - more like spicy.

22oz bottle pours a murky brown with lots of frothy, beige head. Nose has raisin, prune, lots of cooked greens, some soured coffee, plenty of lactic acid. Flavor is tart with vinegar, prunes, cherries, wood pulp, some tobacco, soured cola. Medium bodied, tart finish.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a mix of dark, fruit, chocolate malts and brown sugar. Flavor is a heavy malt with notes of roasted nuts. Finish has a bit of spicy rye and a touch of molasses. I did not get much from the 8 different hops used but this was a bottle from last year. Still this drinks quite well with a heavy but flavorful malt presence.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at the Hy Vee near Drake in Des Moines, Iowa. The pour is a slightly hazed golden copper with a one inch light tan head. The aroma is caramel malt sweet along with with tangerine citrus and some grass. The taste is the grass, herbal sweet, citrus tangerine and some resin mineral towards the back. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and mineral dry slight bitter finish. Just OK.
