12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/15/2013. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, vanilla, toffee, coconut, whiskey, rye, oak, clove, toast, orange zest, grapefruit, floral, light pine, and oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with big malt and barrel presence and complexity with some light hops; and good strength. Taste of big caramel, vanilla, coconut, toffee, whiskey, oak, clove, rye, toast, grapefruit, orange zest, pine, floral, grass, and toasted earthiness. Light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, vanilla, coconut, toffee, whiskey, oak, clove, rye, toast, grapefruit, pine, and toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice balance and complexity of malt and barrel flavors with light-moderate hop presence; with a great malt/barrel balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged DIPA. Hop presence was weak, but the malt/barrel balance and complexity of flavors were very impressive; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Smells hoppy, coppery, a bit malty. Lots of head, but dissipates quickly. Thin body. Nice amber color. Very sweet and floral at first then surprisingly bitter finish. Decent IPA but nothing terribly exciting.

Pours dark brown with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. Aroma is sour up front then bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Flavors are roasted malts, whiskey, wood, vanilla, chocolate and molasses

Bomber. Pours a dark murky brown color with a small white head. A big hot boozy nose, raisin and toffee. Super sweet, hot, burnt caramel, berries, big rich malts. Very drinkable despite an insane abv. Nice brew

On tap at Whole Foods - Short Pump on 03/10/2011. Clear copper amber body with a large frothy off white head. Sweet caramel rye fruit and floral hop aroma. 650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of pine, sour dark fruit and malts. Big pine flavors with green blackberries and a little chocolate. Long piney finish. Very nice though a bit of overkill on the hops.

Poured from 1pint (6 fl oz) bottle. Clear copper brown with dissipating beige head. Predominant dark fruit aroma with some caramel malt. Flavour starts off with dates, moves into a strong fig flavour and finishes with very subtle hops. Sweetness is there, but not quite as much compared to other strong belgians as it gets cut off at the end. Medium, sticky body.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a creamy light tan head. Aroma seems citrus with evergreen deep down. Med + body. Flavor seems citrus/pine, followed by a rather earthy chocolate malt. It seems to want to be pine more than anything else. There is some mildly sweet chocolate off and on. Hop doesn’t burn, but it’s plentiful. Good drink.
