375mL bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of intense roasted coffee upfront, followed by gentle bourbon barrels, and a touch of vanilla. Flavour is rich, with lots of espresso, green peppers, bourbon barrels, sweet lactose, and a touch of vanilla. Rather sweet, while the adjuncts are further subdued. It's not bad, but needs better barrels and better refinement. Okay.

Dark brown. The aroma is quite toasty, green peppers, and there's a vanilla note. It's a bit fruity, and has a bit of toffee and chocolatey. It's an odd take. The barrel is okay, but on the palate it really leans towards an old ale, not optimal.

375ml @ 🏡 Appearance: almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma: whiskey barrel, some leather, vanilla, moderate sweetness, a bit of chocolate notes. Taste: along the same lines, a bit strange barrel character, like some meaty notes, moderately sweet, a bit of berries notes, light spicy character. Overall: it's pretty good, but it lacks body a bit.

(375ml bottle from the BG18 brewpub[RIP]) Pours near-black with a small pale tan head that leaves a ring and moderate lace. Aroma is sweet semi-dark confectionery chocolate with heavy floral vanilla presence, not really much bitterness from either cacao or roast, hazelnuts in the Nutella sense of the word, clear bourbon presence, slightly spicy wood. Flavour is fairly sweet but not as sugary as the nose, more Kraft hazelnut spread than Nutella, touches of bitterness in the sweet chocolate, ample vanilla, some nutty bitterness from the hazelnut, bourbon barrel is quite present but not terribly hot, some spirit and woody, slightly spicy barrel staves, creamy lactose tones, finish is semi-dry with more prominent bittering nuts and cacao but not much roast, bourbon drydown, subtle spicy wood. Oily, medium-bodied, smooth but not thick for pastry of this ABV, soft carbonation, no real alcohol warmth. Nice hazelnut pastry with the confectionery nose and slightly more balanced palate. Missing a bit of body as typical for BG stouts but tasty.

Dark brown colour with little ruby highlights. The head is frothy, mocha-looking one. Getting some caramel aromas over the roasted malt base. Hints of wood and tequila. The taste syrupy burnt barley with some coffee, nuttiness, and the hops appearing in the end to give it a nice mid-dryness. Some dark fruits all-around. Not a bad Imperial Stout, but not getting much of the tequila-barrel action in the mouth.

(750ml bottle from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours lightly hazed deep gold with a nice dense white head that fades slowly leaving a little lace. Aroma of complex lemon-like citrus but not straight-up lemon by any means, some peach, pale berries, juniper, herbs, some nice slightly mulchy funk and hay, smooth wood, soft lactic acidity, nice saline/umami edge to it as well. Flavour is moderately sour (lactic), again a nice mix of lemon and exotic pale citrus with tart peach/apricot, a little earthy wild berry quality, gin-type forest herbs, umami, nice helping of sea salt, soft wood, cereals are rather retiring. Finish is crisp, lightly citrus-acidic, smooth lemon zest and gin herbs with an earthy quality and good salinity. Fairly light body with fine fizzing carbonation. The gin barrel (Radoune I assume) adds a certain something without being overbearing, especially in the umami-saline vein though the adjuncts definitely pop up. Lovely blending, a coup from BG for sure.
A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light vanilla, bourbon barrel notes, light licorice, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light mineral notes, light licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Chambly 2022.

Working on cleaning up the backlog of notes I have. Sample from Le Projet. Pretty good

Poured from the tap. Hazy blonde with full white head. Citrus, tropical fruits, mild saison yeast, decent.
