Dark brown colour. Strong aroma of alcohol; glue, cacao. Full bodied, with just minimal residual sweetness; cacao drink with spirit; strong but unbalanced, quite harsh, boozy.

Acceptable. O:6.21 V:4.75 G:7.3 C:3.75 G:15.6 T:37.61

(On tap @ Le Projet, Quebec City, July 5/23) Pours nearly black with no head or lace. Aroma is big on whiskey and bourbon barrel character as you'd expect, a base of molasses and a little toffee, moderate chocolate, some vanilla, leather, tobacco, burnt wood, light smoke, spirit warmth. Flavour is moderately sweet, molasses and a little toffee, semi-sweet chocolate, light roast, whiskey, leather, lightly burnt wood, soft smokiness, barrel/spirit warmth, finish is still fairly sweet despite the ample spirit drydown, molasses lingering, leather, whiskey, touch of roast, little bitterness. Body is very thin, watery even, missing the texture necessary for the ABV and the barrel heft, intentionally nearly flat but this exacerbates the problem of the thinness. A shame because I think with the necessary malt heft the barreling could have been very nice.

(On tap @ Le Projet, Quebec City, July 5/23) Pours lightly hazed bright gold with a thin white head and no lace. Aroma is bright and reasonably fruity with candied lemon, pale berries, some tart orange and pit fruit, ample barnyard hay-type funk, leather, young barrels, a little phenolic action. Flavour is quite dry overall with a bit of sweetness and light lactic acidity, lemon and underripe nectarine, fruit candy esters but not to excess, fairly crisp cereal base, moderate barnyard, lightly phenolic, fairly young and prominent barrel dries out the finish with some pit fruit, light lemon and good tartness, softly bitter phenols. Light bodied, slick, active carbonation. A really nice grisette blend really, good blending.

750ml @ Phill's. Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: medicinal shitty bourbon (thx, for using Jim Beam) kinda grassy, some green apples. Taste: along the same lines with the addition of wood notes, chocolatey aftertaste, low to moderately sweet. Overall: base beer was probably very nice, so I am not sure why someone would come up with an idea to put it into the shitty Jim Beam barrel to ruin everything.

Dark brown. Thin, pale head. The aroma has sort of a heavy Jim Beam thing, some fudgey chocolate. On the palate, it's kind of harsh, a bit thin, maybe some chocolate. A splash of alcohol. A bit out of balance, definitely a bit harsh and a lot muddled.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is vile, with tons of nail polish remover (i.e., very shitty bourbon), wood glue, and hot alcohol. Flavour is full of very bad bourbon, nail polish remover, wood glue, and floral notes. The base beer seems OK, but it's ruined by the really low-quality bourbon. Hot, perfumey finish. Not pleasant.

Poured from 750mL bottle (thanks Derek & JF). Near black with small beige head. Cheap bourbon, wood glue, a bit thin, not great. The bourbon ruins it.
Right. Deep Black color and a smooth tan head. Nose of raisins, almo ds, sweetish. Smooth mouthfeeling. Vanilla and almonds, milk chocolate anda decent roastyness.
