500ml bottle. Opalescent, dark ruby colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Smoky and caramel malty aroma, notes of smoked ham, beechwood ashes, dark caramel, whiffs of grilled plum. Taste is smoky and caramel malty, notes of smoked ham, dark caramel, beechwood ashes, some leather, sticking-plaster, a touch of grilled plum, dark honey. Minimally oily, watery texture, smooth, soft, simultaneously minimally dry and minimally cloying palate, fine and soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Rich, intense and complex, thereby well balanced, harmonious - very (very!) close to Schlenkerla's legendary brews.

1/XII/21 - 50cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: 24/VIII/21 (2021-1522)

Clear deep amber to chestnut brown beer, big solid creamy bit irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: nice, very strong smoke profile up front, campfire and ash tray, malty as well, with a hint of caramel, some dried prunes, tobacco, some chocolate notes even. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sourish start, very smoky, light malt profile, some green apples, rich and earthy, slightly bitter, rather dry. Aftertaste: more smoke, pronounced bitterness, malty if a bit watery though, some black tea bitterness.

Pours almost clear, golden, and a dense white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma's: mild smoke, sweet malts. Retronasal it's sweetish, malty, light smokey, with a hint of fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet. Light bodied. Soft carbonation. Finishes with malt/grain, then slightly dry and light moderate bitter.

Tap at Indewildeman, Amsterdam, 17th November 2021. Pours an off clear. aroma is malty, earthy and caramel. Taste is clean and complex, earthy and a nice mellowness to it. Very good

On tap at HopDog, clean dark crystal brown. Beautiful rounded complex nose with smoke, molasses, and a bit of roasted malt. The flavor is just a perfect balanced triad of smoke, caramel, and earthy hop bitterness. Daaamn is this one amazing beer!

Tap at HopDog. Cloudy chestnut brown, golden cream. Mellow fishy smoke and roast nose. Medium full chewy body, softer than the filtered version. grainy backbone, broad smoke notes, fruity, juicy, hop aromatics in the finish. Great!
