(Bottle) Pours very dark brown - clear with ruby highlights when held to light - and a fair tan head. Pleasant, gentle aroma - roast malt, notes of vanilla. Medium body, good bright carbonation. Taste is good but rather thin. Sweet dark malts have a cola character, albeit richer and more complex. Very drinkable.

330ml bottle into shaker. Faint malt nose, some grass maybe. Clear golden amber beer with sudsy white head. Good lacing. Medium carbonation. Sharp mineral water taste, cleansing and refreshing. Finish is sweet grapefruit. Very easy drinking. Another one of these ’Australian’ pale ales popping up everywhere.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Faint fruity/caramel nose. Cloudy golden beer with sudsy white head. A few fine bubbles ascend. Light body with slightly spritzy mouthfeel. Finish is stonefruit with malt lurking in the background. Nothing outstanding but pleasant thirst-quencher.

330ml bottle into weizen glass. Sour chocolate malt nose. Translucent caramel sauce appearance with large off-white head. Light and zingy in the mouth. Finish starts citric then dark chocolate, ends with hints of orange juice and coriander. It’s an excellent, refreshing weizen.

Bottle, shared by bergstaden. Brown in color, unclear and with a small, dense, dark beige head. It’s lightly oxidized, with some alcohol and quite a lot of toffee and caramel sauce. Some dark dried fruits too. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate, with a low and pleasant carbonation level. Some pleasant bitterness too. Lasting finish. A bit heavy on the bitterness, but sure a fine and tasteful one. 151010

330ml bottle into glass. Very active head, a real gusher. Nose is milk chocolate. Massive soapy tan head slowly recedes. Great deep red colour with champagne carbonation. Fizzy in the mouth, good body. Finish is smoky, a little chocolate, then sour fruit. Quite similar to Tooheys Old. Tasty.
