Bottle. Darkish brown with a light beige head. Aroma of toffee, cocoa, roasted malt and grass. Taste has plenty of toffee but the roasted malt is not lost. Nice distinct bitterness comes into a finish that’s still quite malty but not very sweet. Pretty tasty blend of Gippsland Gold and Hatlifter.

Bottle, 4.5%ABV. Hazy orange with a modest white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon pudding, coriander seed. Thinnish body. (Over) mild sweetness, some lemon tartness, orange peel and a spicy drying finish. Pleasant and thirst quenching. The low sweetness makes it less interesting but I could drink more of this than many Wits.

Bottle. Slightly dirty brown with a huge frothy beige head. Aroma of nutty caramel, sweet-shop spices, grass. Taste has rather unexpected - and borderline unpleasant - burnt notes, caramel, nuts, grass.

Bottle. Slightly hazy light amber with an inch of white head. Aroma has biscuits, pine, honey and some butterscotch. Quite substantial in the mouth with a round fruitiness that’s unusual in an Australian lager. There’s a real house malt profile that works well for the ales but is less obviously suited here and is a little reminiscent of Butter Menthols. Piney bitterness. Robust and refreshing.

Pours black with a long lasting tan head.Nose shows amazing milk chocolate, roasted malt and oatmeal. Subtle hints of oak come through. Reminiscent of hot chocolate...Flavours are instead dominated by roasted malt and coffee with little else showing. Too roasty with very little complexity.Very creamy carbonation, nice.

Bottle. Clear orange with a decent white head. Aroma of butterscotch, honey and lemon. Taste is quite fruity with apricot and pineapple. The flavours in the aroma are there too. Slight bitter finish. First sip is pretty convincingly beery and it’s not as watery as expected. One is more than plenty, but this OK for what it is.

Bottle. Nice dark amber with a coat of pale beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, toffee, dried fruit, liqueur port. Taste has treacle, dried fruit, grassy bitterness. Quite Porty. Alcohol pretty evident, but not raw. Smooth verging upon sticky. Low carbonation just lightens things up a little. Rather British. Quite complex, but not very deep. Good balance.

Pours ruby-tinged dark amber with a lasting head and lacing.Nose shows rich caramel, toasty, nutty and light roasted malt by the truckload. Very nice! Underneath is some faint hops, but you can’t really call it American, just a subtle hint of resin. Still, really delightful.Flavours include more of the same dark malt followed by a sharp bitterness. Seems to be lacking a bit in the mid-palate.Nice creamy body and moderate carbonation.

Very dark brown, light tan head fades to a coat with sticky lacing. Aroma of chocolate, stewed fruits, burnt dark sugars, grass. Sweet dark sugars and fruit - prunes and berries - with quite sharp grass, citrus, roasted/ coffee bitterness. Quite a lot of burnt flavours. A little wood and vanilla in a drying bitter finish. Full, oily mouthfeel. Didn’t quite seem to open up at first but bitterness less prominent as it warmed towards about 14C. Bitterness lingers a long time. [rerate - melange of flavours that seem freer a bit warmer but the (new?) oak takes over at the end. Interesting and rather strange.]

Bottle. Brooding reddish amber with a dense beige head that laces nicely. Aroma of nectarines, kumquats, herbs and caramel. Taste has nutty/ toasted malt, some stone fruit and citrus. Brief bitter finish. Medium bodied - quite light for the malt balancing the bitterness. I don’t think ESA is the right place for this - maybe Amber ale. A shift towards the newfangled for this brewery and a good beer.[3.5] Mouthfeel seems both creamier and cleaner than last time. Fruity and malty with earthy and resinous bitterness that cruises through the sweetness with ease. Classy balance. Tasty stuff.
