Sample at the brewery. Begyle blond has a bit of a buttery and fruity ale aroma. Clean gold color with an earthy grassy light malt and mild crisp bitter finish. Tasted better than it smelled.

Bottle from the brewery. Euchred 6.2% pours a deep copper gold with big fruity hops and malty sweet aroma. Bitter hops, catpiss, mouth puckering but damn good. Made with 100% Midwest hops so it is quite unique.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with 3 fingers of dark tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and a hint of caramel. Taste is light bitter and light sweet, follows aroma. Full bodied with a thick, creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long, bitter coffee finish. Pretty darn good.

Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is minerally crisp, sharp carbonation. Light layer of creamy malt with a touch of sweetness on the back end. Hops are beguiling mix of mild skunk, light pine and mellow tropical fruits with all the elements in good balance. Finishes smoother with the creamy malt becoming more prominent and the hops turning somewhat minty. A very nice IPA that doesn’t slap you round the chops but has plenty of good hop flavour. Super drinkable.

On tap. Pours a clear amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of light fruit with some Belgian yeast and sweet grains. Flavor has an earthy fruit note with some sweetness and a bit of earthy grains

Taster at Standard Market. My last chance to come here for a luncheon tray before I start a job up in Northbrook.,And I am surprised to find it’s my first Begyle rating, unless there was a collab from earlier. So this fits nicely in the profile of much-abused "Irish Red Ale." A clean, faint nose with just a slight amount of esters. Ruddy amber color with a thin fizzy head. taste is good and strong on the spiciness of a caramel roast malt, deeper than, say a pale ale. Full malt taste with what seems to me (and I have proven absolutely no expertise) to be an English hop, perhaps with Centennial finish. Just a slight, but fully present, note of peat makes this a great finish.

This is my first beer from this brewery. Someone brought it to our party, so at the end of the night and now have a nice new beer to rate. 22oz bottle pours into an 8oz nonic glass. Aroma is strong fumy dry black malts and cocoa. The coffee is almost just malts so, not heavy handed, which I like. The alcohol is present and comes off as liquor cocoa candy. Body is lighter but coats the tongue. Has a mineral, lightly abrasive feel. Again alcohol cocoa with a drying bitter finish. Basically, well attenuated but plenty of strong flavors, lots of cocoa, and malt bitterness. Coffee is subtly added. A little too much alcohol and too much bitterness. But decent in small doses. The price tag was almost $11, which is way too much.

Bottle. Pours dirty orange gold with white head. Nose and taste of grapefruit peel, stale weed, pine, bready malt, lemon, salty bread and old dank tropical fruit. Medium body.
