Bottle. Black color with a big beige haed. Aroma of a slight roastiness and some sweetness, but not much there. What this beer is is very smooth. There’s a slight sourness at first, but it gives way to a big milk chocolate flavor with some roastiness, and a sweet creamy smoothness. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Balanced oatmeal flavor (unlike most oatmeal stouts). It doesn’t overpower, but there’s a lingering oatmeal-ness at the end.

A bit fuity of an aroma for a porter. Definite grape componant. Even when poured carefully, a persistant dk tan head makes itself known. Very dark. Fist impression is buttery, smooth, and woody/smokey like I think Porters should be. A bit more fizz than I am uesd to for the genre, fuitiness is not here anymore and a bit more bitter trailing aftertaste. Soft and smooth going down. I definately wont mind finishing this 19ouncer.

Very dark brown, with a dark tan head that is rather hefty and robust. A very attractive glass imed after pouring. Aroma is a bit sharp but the classic traits of a good stout or maybe a porter come though. First impression is smokey, like an old fireplace. Hints of chocolate and a bit bitter. Very nice but lacking some of the full, warm feel of others of its illk.

Bottle (2006). Light malt and hops aroma. Dark amber color with moderate head. LIght malt and moderate hops flavor but not much else. Little body. The first time I tried this beer was back in 95 - was a much better beer back then - fuller and much better flavor. Not nearly as good as it used to be.

Strange aroma- nuts, sweet caramel, and...urine? There’s something funky about the aroma. The body is red-brown and topped as most Samuel Smiths beers are, by a thick, puffy light tan head. Hmmm...I’m also picking up some raisin/tobacco in the aroma now. Sweet, sugary, somewhat nutty flavor (maybe I’m merely open to suggestion on that latter note), with a grassy, floral hops finish. Relatively thin-bodied. OK, now I’m getting some tobacco leaf in the flavor too, adding a touch of complexity to this otherwise single-note beer. Pretty good, but pretty standard for Sammy.

Some skunk and metallic hops mix with sweet malt in the aroma of this clear copper beverage. Body is somewhat sweet with light caramel and brown sugar flavors. Metallic hops accentuate the malts. Decent, but there isn’t much going on here.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a medium brown color with orange highlights and a with a large fluffy tan head that towered over the glass and left good lacing. The aroma was malty and toasty with a hint of caramel. The flavor was bitter and malty with sour caramel and touches of coffee and fruity hops. Medium finish. Medium body. Ok.

Brown ale with a beige head. Nutty malt flavour with alcohol warmth coming through, Smoked peat taste, slightly lactic with a nice sweet finish. Medium bodied.

Amber red coloured, no head. Aroma of malts and gin. Slightly oxidized. Nice whiskey malts tatse with smoked peat, and a light sourness. Medium bodied.

Deep black beer with a thick creamy moka head which stays on and on. Almost viscous in appearance. Wonderful nose of chocolate vanilla. Very creamy mouthfeel with roasted almost smoked malts, burnt chocolate, caramel. Very earthy. And did I say creamy....MMMMMMMM
