Black colour, firm beige head. Beautiful appearance. There is a lot going on in this beer. Aroma of roasted malts, dark coffee, and chocolate. Taste is bitter-sweet, roasted malts, chocolate, licorice and coffee. Flavour develops in a deep bitter, warm dryness. Excellent!

Bottled, gift from the brewer, thnx very much for that! Cloudy dark color, short creamy lasting head. Aroma of roasted malt, some hop, coffee and licorice, not as strong as in most American Imp Stouts, but more with a Belgian touch. Bitter malty taste, coffee, some chocolat, bit port-like, bit dry, not sweet. Great stuff. It becomes better with every sip and combines the best of both Belgian and American beer worlds. Brilliant.

Bottled (BB 10/2007)
Dark ruby brown color, small brown head. Very fruity nose, loads of prunes, dates and brown sugar. Crisp carbonation. Prunes, toffee, some hops and even some licorice in the flavor. Some alcohol picks up in the finish. Nice sweetish dubbel. 10% version of this would be interesting - Rochefort influence is evident.

Bottled as "De Molen Blond"
Amber-nut brown color, small off-white head. Honey sweet aroma. Sourish, a bit yeasty, evident candy sugar. Grassy hopping. Weird, especially that sourness.

Bottle. (8.5% ABV) Deep golden beer with a nice, big off-white head. Sweet and bitter nose, but a bit weak. The flavor is sweet, lightly fruity and bitter, finishing with a light bitterness. Medium to full body. Kind of strange, but nice enough. (070608)

Bottle, 10%. Very dark chestnut colour. Looks flat. Very small light brown head. Weak vinous aroma. The flavour is quite malty and nicely so. Only a little pepper and bitterness to balance. Quite sweet, but I like it. Too low carbonation, though. 6 4 7 3 18

Bottle. 7 months past BB date, but now it is really good. Good malty aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Good malty aroma, some malt syrup. The flavour has some of the same notes as the aroma. Sweet and creamy, quite alcoholic finish. Still good after a few years of lagering. 8 3 8 3 16
