Cloudy dark color, medium creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, laurel, coffee. Sweet and roasted malty taste, soft creamy texture. Quite bitter in the end. It’s almost a dutch version of Guinness...but i like Guinness.

Rerate, first rating was 3.2. I guess the beer has improved. Winning an award at the GBBF and after trying it the second time, i can understand why. Nicely balanced, strong in taste with coffee, mocha, chocolat, roasted malts. Very nice! Original: Deep black color, thin off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice and some laurel. Sweet taste of heavy roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate.

(Bottle 33 cl) Reddish brown, clear and presumably filtered. Light brown cappuchino-like head. Dark and malty with a distinct, dry bitterness. But actually this is more sour than bitter, which is very odd for a Doppelbock. We’re almost talking Flemish Sour territory here. Very interesting brew. 261104

Bottled 33cl (bottled 14-10-2003)
Label says: "Dit bier is het bitterste bier van Nederland".
Red-ruby hazy color, big tanned cloudy head. Nose has malt, grassy-woody notes and some licorice. Starts hoppy, then some licorice. Bitter finish with some alcohol. Bitter hops linger in your mouth for a long time. Medium to full bodied. Quite different Dutch beer, but I liked it.

Bottled, 33cl, brewed Nov 2004, alc. 10.2%
Dark brown color, good creamy tanned head. Aroma is plummy with fresh lemony notes and a bit of hay. Medium to full bodied. Yeast is dominating behind that chocolate with hints of rye and licorice. Liquerish palate.

Advertised at PINT 25 Festival as 5.2 % ABV Slightly hazy amber, small off-white head. Fresh greenery nose, I would venture some gooseberry. Dry, light bitter taste, a bit spicey, not hoppy. Cookie malts. Quite light and watery. Aftertaste keeps long-malty. Just a bit less than ordinary boring. Nothing wrong, but call it TUIG (=scum)??? I would have looked for something more abrasive, then...
